Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Project Coordinator / Estimator to join our team. This dual-role position will support both the coordination of ongoing construction projects and provide estimating expertise for new and existing projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage project timelines while accurately estimating project costs and resource needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination:
Assist the project manager with day-to-day project operations, ensuring timely and efficient progress. Schedule project milestones and track key deliverables, ensuring alignment with project timelines. Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure effective communication and project execution. Maintain and update project documentation, including contracts, change orders, permits, drawings, and approvals. Oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints. Assist with managing project budgets, tracking costs, and ensuring adherence to financial constraints.
Estimating:
Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for new and ongoing projects based on architectural drawings, project specifications, and industry benchmarks. Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other project documentation to determine project requirements, labor, material, and equipment costs. Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain bids and ensure cost-effective and competitive pricing. Identify and quantify risks and variables that may affect project costs and provide recommendations to mitigate potential cost overruns. Review and update estimates throughout the course of a project to ensure cost control and adjust estimates based on changes in scope, design, or materials. Prepare bid proposals and support the team in securing new projects by providing accurate and compelling estimates.
Project Tracking & Reporting:
Track project progress, milestones, and deadlines to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Provide regular progress reports to project stakeholders, including clients, senior management, and contractors. Monitor quality control and safety standards to ensure compliance with regulations and project specifications. Identify potential project risks and assist the team in developing solutions or mitigation strategies.
Client and Stakeholder Relations:
Foster strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders. Address client questions or concerns and facilitate clear communication regarding project status and costs. Assist with project meetings, presentations, and ensuring all parties remain aligned on expectations and goals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field (preferred). 3+ years of experience in construction project coordination and estimating. Strong knowledge of construction processes, cost estimating, and construction scheduling. Experience with project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project, Pantera) and estimating tools (e.g., Sage Estimating, ProEst). Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities. Knowledge of safety standards, regulations, and best practices in the construction industry. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Working Conditions:
The role will require both office and site-based work, with on-site visits as needed. Some travel may be required depending on the location of the project. Occasional overtime or weekend work may be necessary based on project deadlines.
