Job Description

Estimator Missouri Basin Materials | Bismarck, ND Overview Missouri Basin Materials (MBM) is a growing rebar fabrication and construction materials supply company serving contractors and DOT projects across the region. We're seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join our team and help drive the success of our projects. In this role, you'll prepare accurate cost estimates, review project plans, and collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and project managers to keep our bids competitive and our projects financially sound. This is a great opportunity to build real expertise in cost estimating and materials supply — we're prepared to train the right person from the ground up, or bring on someone ready to hit the ground running. Responsibilities Review construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications to estimate material and labor requirements Prepare and manage quotes and cost estimates for rebar and related construction materials, including quantity take-offs Track project timelines, bid deadlines, and follow-ups to keep the estimation process on schedule Communicate with contractors, engineers, and subcontractors to gather project specs and negotiate fair pricing and scope Use spreadsheets and estimating/construction management software to track costs and monitor budgets throughout the bidding process Coordinate with project managers to ensure estimates align with real site conditions and requirements Maintain organized, accurate records of quotes, contracts, and related documentation Learn and apply industry specs and standards (e.g., DOT requirements, AASHTO) as they relate to our products Requirements Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Reliable and timely — someone who meets deadlines and follows through Strong work ethic and genuine initiative; able to work independently once trained Comfortable with Microsoft Office/spreadsheets; willing to learn estimating software Degree or relevant experience preferred, but not required — all experience levels encouraged to apply Prior blueprint reading, estimating, or construction industry experience is ideal.
