Job Description
Design/Build Estimator Groundscapes Inc. - Omaha / Valley, NE Groundscapes is a high-end landscape design/build firm specializing in outdoor living — pools, patios, waterfront construction, and large-scale residential + commercial projects. We're growing and building out our pre-construction systems — and we're hiring a Design/Build Estimator to take ownership of how our work is priced, scoped, and set up for execution. This is not a "bid clerk" role. This is a systems + estimating role with real impact on profitability and field success. Compensation $70,000 - $90,000 base salary (based on experience) What You'll Own Our estimating platform (LMN) — templates, assemblies, pricing, and standards Accuracy of takeoffs, budgets, and scopes across all projects Alignment between what is sold and what is actually built What You'll Do Build and maintain estimating templates, production rates, and pricing structures in LMN Produce detailed estimates and material takeoffs for residential and commercial projects Review plans and identify scope gaps, risks, and cost impacts before they become problems Work directly with sales, design, and field leadership to ensure projects are buildable and profitable Support proposals with alternates, options, and value engineering Assist with field verification, layout, and pre-construction planning when needed What We're Looking For 3+ years estimating experience in landscape construction Strong takeoff and plan-reading ability Experience with LMN or similar estimating software (or ability to learn quickly) Understands how projects are actually built — not just priced Detail-oriented, organized, and accountable Comfortable working in both office and field environments Why This Role Stands Out You will own the estimating system — not just plug numbers into it Work on high-end, complex projects — not cookie-cutter installs Direct impact on company performance, margins, and growth Strong leadership, clear expectations, and a team that executes at a high level Who This Is NOT For Someone looking for a low-accountability estimating role Someone who only wants to follow templates instead of building/improving them Someone not willing to collaborate with field teams and own outcomes Who This IS For Someone who takes pride in accurate numbers and clean scopes Someone who wants to build systems and make them better over time Someone who wants to be part of a growing company doing high-end work If you're currently estimating and feel like: your company's systems are outdated your numbers don't match reality in the field or you're capped on growth and compensation This is a chance to step into a role with real ownership and upside.
