About Our Client About the Opportunity Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join a growing and reputable civil construction contractor based in the Paterson, NJ area. This individual will play a key role in estimating and securing sitework, excavation, utility, paving, grading, and infrastructure projects throughout Northern New Jersey. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned estimating professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong understanding of civil/site development construction costs, subcontractor management, and competitive bidding strategies. Job Description Key Responsibilities Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for sitework and civil construction projects. Analyze plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents. Perform quantity takeoffs for excavation, earthwork, utilities, paving, concrete, grading, and related scopes. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations. Develop detailed bid proposals and project budgets. Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options. Collaborate with project managers, operations teams, and company leadership throughout the bidding process. Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client meetings as required. Maintain current knowledge of local market conditions, labor rates, material costs, and subcontractor capabilities. Support negotiated work, budgeting, and conceptual estimating efforts. Qualifications 7+ years of estimating experience in civil construction, sitework, or heavy highway projects. Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, site utilities, paving, drainage, and infrastructure construction. Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications. Proficiency with estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, Bid2Win, Bluebeam, Agtek, or similar platforms. Experience preparing bids ranging from $1M to $50M+ preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred, but not required with relevant experience. Preferred Experience Site development projects for commercial, industrial, residential, or public sector clients. NJDOT, county, municipal, or private development projects. Knowledge of New Jersey construction markets and subcontractor networks. The Successful Applicant A successful Estimator should have: Experience with preparing detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations within the Property industry. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with project teams and clients. Proficiency in relevant estimation software and tools. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
