We utilize innovative technologies and design capabilities and rely upon our team of highly skilled industry veterans. Our headquarters office is located in Bergen County, NJ with a branch office located in Newburgh, NY. We are seeking a highly motivated Construction Estimator for lump sum mechanical bids and negotiated contract work in our Waldwick, NJ headquarters. All projects are union labor. This position requires a highly professional and organized individual who can work in a fast-paced construction contractor business environment. The ideal candidate will have three to five years of related estimating experience, but we will consider applicants with other mechanical construction experience like project management or field supervision who are looking to make a career change.
Primary Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed project estimates using estimating software and on-screen takeoff on projects ranging in size from $50,000 to $15,000,000 inclusive of all material, labor, equipment and subcontractors. Identify qualified subcontractors and vendors by specifying scope and materials; obtain quotes. Attend pre-bid meetings and walk-throughs at customer sites. Maintain good business relationships with owners, general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, vendors, and company colleagues. Turnover estimates to project management team and consult with them as needed. Assist in maintaining and analyzing historical bid data. Make recommendations to drive alternative project scope solutions. Related duties as requested.
Requirements:
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent Computer proficiency and MS Office experience, including Outlook, Excel and Word Three to five years of experience with computerized commercial/industrial construction estimating or prior experience with plumbing, HVAC and piping systems Good reasoning ability to interpret a variety of instructions and specifications in written, oral, schedule or diagram form Must be able to read and understand project specs and drawings Organization skills and ability to meet deadlines Math proficiency, high degree of accuracy and fine attention to detail Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing as well as interact professionally with clients and co-workers Must possess a team player attitude while also being able to work independently We offer competitive compensation and a full benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance and 401(k). The salary range for this position is $105,000 to $140,000 per year. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and experience.
