Job Description
Position Summary JGF Built, LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to support our estimating and preconstruction team. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in building a career in heavy civil construction estimating. The Junior Estimator will assist with reviewing bid opportunities, plans, specifications, quantity takeoffs, subcontractor and vendor quotes, material pricing, and preparation of competitive construction estimates and bid proposals. The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable working with numbers and spreadsheets, willing to learn, and interested in developing a strong understanding of heavy civil construction. Pay is DOE. Key Responsibilities Assist with reviewing plans, specifications, bid documents, and scopes of work. Help identify project requirements, deadlines, and bidding requirements. Perform quantity takeoffs from construction plans. Assist with estimating labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs. Obtain and organize subcontractor and vendor quotes. Contact suppliers and subcontractors for pricing when needed. Compare and evaluate quotes for accuracy and completeness. Enter and maintain estimate information in spreadsheets and estimating software. Assist Senior Estimators and Project Managers with preparing bid proposals. Organize bid documents and supporting information. Assist with reviewing addenda and incorporating changes into estimates. Track bid opportunities and upcoming deadlines. Maintain organized estimating files and bid documentation. Research material and equipment pricing. Assist with preparing bid schedules, scope sheets, and other proposal documents. Help verify quantities and pricing before bid submission. Learn JGF Built's estimating procedures, construction methods, and cost structure. Communicate professionally with vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal staff. Perform other estimating and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications 0-2 years of construction, estimating, engineering, or related experience preferred. Construction estimating experience is a plus but not required. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Ability to read and understand basic construction plans is preferred. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to meet strict bid deadlines. Good written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to learn construction estimating and heavy civil construction. Ability to work independently while also working effectively with a team. Preferred Qualifications Construction management, civil engineering, business, or related education. Previous experience with heavy civil construction. Experience performing construction quantity takeoffs. Experience with Bluebeam. Experience with HCSS HeavyBid, HeavyJob, or similar estimating software. Familiarity with underground utilities, earthwork, asphalt, concrete, or drainage. Experience working with public works or government bid documents.
