Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as the Head of the Electrical Estimating Department. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all electrical estimating activities, ensuring accurate and competitive bids for a wide range of construction projects. Your expertise will drive the department's growth, foster collaboration with project teams and clients, and uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a talented team, implement innovative estimating practices, and contribute to the successful delivery of complex electrical construction projects. Responsibilities Lead and manage the electrical estimating team, setting clear goals and providing mentorship to enhance skills and productivity. Develop comprehensive electrical estimates by reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents with precision. Utilize advanced estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and other industry-standard tools to prepare detailed cost proposals. Conduct thorough review of electrical blueprints, schematics, and building codes (including NEC and NFPA 70 compliance) to ensure accurate interpretation of project requirements. Collaborate with project managers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors through effective negotiation to secure favorable pricing and contract terms. Manage material cost estimation, labor hours, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotes to produce reliable budgets aligned with project scope. Monitor project budgets during bidding processes and oversee cost control measures throughout project execution to ensure profitability. Review construction drawings for electrical systems installation, ensuring adherence to electrical building codes and safety standards. Implement best practices in cost management and estimation accuracy while continuously seeking process improvements. Maintain detailed records of estimates, bid submissions, client communications, and contractual documentation for transparency and future reference. Experience Proven experience in electrical estimating within the construction industry, demonstrating a deep understanding of electrical systems and building codes. Extensive knowledge of construction drawing review, electrical blueprint reading, and interpretation of technical schematics. Strong background in construction management principles including project management, contracts administration, and site coordination. Proficiency with estimating software such as HeavyBid; experience with Bluebeam is highly desirable. Familiarity with NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 standards, and NFPA 70 compliance requirements for electrical installations. Demonstrated ability in negotiation with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to achieve optimal pricing strategies. Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team leadership in a fast-paced environment. Construction site experience is preferred to better understand on-the-ground project challenges alongside estimation activities. $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
