We combine quality construction, responsive service, and clear communication to guide customers through the restoration process. We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to support restoration and reconstruction projects throughout Milwaukee, Kenosha, and surrounding southeastern Wisconsin communities . This position focuses on inspecting properties, developing accurate scopes of work, preparing detailed estimates, and working with customers, insurance adjusters, subcontractors, and project managers to move projects forward. The right candidate understands how buildings are constructed and repaired, can identify the work needed beyond visible damage, and knows how to turn a site inspection into a complete, well-supported estimate. You should be detail-oriented, confident communicating project costs, and committed to accurate pricing and profitable project delivery. What You Will Do Inspect properties and develop complete scopes of work. Conduct site visits, assess property damage and reconstruction needs, take measurements, and document existing conditions with photographs, sketches, and field notes. Prepare accurate construction estimates. Use Xactimate and other estimating tools to develop detailed estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, overhead, and profit for residential and commercial restoration projects. Complete quantity takeoffs and cost analysis. Review plans, drawings, specifications, and site conditions to determine material quantities, labor requirements, and trade-specific costs. Identify scope gaps, access limitations, and other conditions that may affect pricing. Work through insurance estimate differences. Review insurance repair estimates, identify missing or incomplete scope items, and prepare supporting documentation for supplements and revisions. Communicate with adjusters and project stakeholders to address scope and pricing questions. Source and evaluate subcontractor pricing. Obtain bids, compare proposals, confirm scope coverage, and maintain relationships with qualified subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partners. Present estimates and follow up on proposals. Explain proposed work, pricing, assumptions, and exclusions clearly. Respond to customer questions, track outstanding estimates, and support the transition from proposal to signed construction agreement. Deliver thorough project handoffs. Work closely with project managers to transfer approved scopes, budgets, subcontractor quotes, material requirements, and customer expectations before construction begins. Manage revisions and protect project profitability. Prepare estimate revisions and change-order pricing, maintain organized estimating records, and review actual project costs with the operations team to improve future estimates. Required Qualifications At least 2 years of experience in construction estimating, restoration estimating, or construction project management with substantial estimating responsibilities. Hands-on experience estimating insurance restoration and reconstruction projects , including repairs following water, fire, smoke, or other property damage. Proficiency in Xactimate , including sketching, quantity takeoffs, detailed line-item estimates, and estimate revisions. Strong knowledge of construction methods, building materials, trade sequencing, labor costs, subcontractor pricing, and job costing. An established network of reliable subcontractors and trade partners, with the ability to obtain and evaluate competitive bids. Excellent written and verbal communication, strong computer skills, and the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines independently while maintaining accuracy and professional integrity. A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required. Candidates must also meet job-related background check and drug-screening requirements, consistent with applicable law. Preferred Qualifications Experience estimating multifamily, hotel, commercial, and multi-building facility reconstruction projects , along with familiarity with subcontractors and construction pricing in the Milwaukee and Kenosha markets. Proficiency with Symbility , digital takeoff tools, and construction project management software. A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; relevant restoration certifications; and/or OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training. Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills. Schedule and Travel This position combines office-based estimating with regular property inspections and site visits throughout the Milwaukee and Kenosha areas. Local travel is required, with minimal out-of-area travel expected. Participation in an on-call rotation and occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support emergency inspections and customer needs. Work Environment and Physical Requirements Work takes place in office settings, occupied properties, and active construction or restoration environments. Responsibilities include walking jobsites, taking measurements, inspecting damaged areas, and using computers and mobile devices to prepare estimates and document conditions.
