Job Description

Haugland Group, a privately-owned Long Island, New York-based civil infrastructure and energy construction company, has an immediate opportunity for a Cost Engineer to join our team. We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated, highly organized individual to join the Project Management team to provide all facets of construction project support, including submittal processing, material management, and budget analysis. This is a hybrid remote position. Travel to active project sites, including extended stays on location, is required. The anticipated travel requirement for this role is approximately 30%. Let's build together! Key Functions Track project scope by line item as it relates to project phases and schedule milestones. Identify cost variances, overruns, potential risks, and cost-saving opportunities, and communicate findings to the Project Manager. Support the project team in the preparation, review, and processing of change orders, back charges, and cost transfers. Review and verify labor hours and production reporting submitted by field supervision. Code, review, and approve invoices in coordination with Accounts Payable and Contract Administration. Build and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders. Coordinate with the Project Manager and Contract Administrator to prepare monthly client billings and requisitions. Assist with project forecasting, cost reporting, budgeting, and other financial reporting activities. Desired Qualifications 0-2 years of relevant experience, preferably in heavy civil construction, infrastructure, utilities, transportation, site development, or related construction projects. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and comfortable working with construction management and cost tracking software. Demonstrates a high level of initiative, attention to detail, and commitment to completing assignments accurately and on schedule. Ability to analyze project costs, identify trends and potential issues, and develop practical recommendations. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation is preferred. Why Haugland? Compensation range for this role is 70-85k.
