Remote Employment Type:
Contract to Hire ASAP is hiring on behalf of our client for an experienced CSA Cost Estimator. This is a remote opportunity for a construction cost estimating professional with strong experience performing quantity takeoffs, evaluating bids, developing detailed cost estimates, and reconciling trade pricing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) estimating , be comfortable working from drawings and project documentation, and have hands-on experience with RSMeans, quantity takeoffs, and bid evaluations .
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze blueprints, drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates. Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from available design documents. Develop budget, market, and discipline-specific cost estimates. Prepare "should cost" estimates to validate contractor and trade pricing. Evaluate and reconcile trade bid submissions against project scope, current market conditions, and established budgets. Prepare cost reconciliations between multiple estimates and clearly explain cost variances. Source accurate and current pricing information from contractors, suppliers, databases, and other industry resources. Apply knowledge of union and trade construction cost standards when developing estimates. Collaborate with architects, engineers, project teams, and other stakeholders to understand project scope and estimating requirements. Support the development and maintenance of cost data libraries and organized project documentation. Assist senior team members with identifying opportunities to improve estimating efficiency and processes. Participate in site walks and occasional site-related travel as needed. Work effectively in a fast-paced project environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience . Approximately 5-10 years of relevant cost estimating experience . Strong experience with Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) construction estimating . Demonstrated experience performing quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and design documents. Experience with bid evaluations and trade bid reconciliation . Strong working knowledge of RSMeans . Understanding of construction pricing, labor, materials, and trade costs. Ability to develop and analyze detailed cost estimates and explain cost variances. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Windows-based applications, and web-based tools. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with architects, engineers, contractors, and project teams.
Preferred Background:
Candidates with experience working within an owner's representative, engineering/consulting, cost management, or similar project environment are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates whose estimating experience has been primarily with general contractors may be less aligned with the specific needs of this position.
