Job Title:
Electrical EstimatorJob Description The Electrical Estimator serves as an Electrical Cost Consultant and Quantity Surveyor, responsible for developing accurate project budgets and estimates for high-tech, commercial construction projects, with a strong focus on semiconductor facilities. This client-facing role involves extensive use of Excel, digital takeoff tools such as BlueBeam or 3D modeling, and close collaboration with internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to deliver clear, reliable cost information throughout all phases of construction. Responsibilities
+ Develop detailed budget estimates by performing accurate quantity takeoffs using project plans, specifications, or conceptual information.
+ Review, interpret, and precisely estimate the scope of assigned work based on project documents and design information.
+ Apply unit costs and productivity rates as provided by leadership to produce reliable and consistent estimates.
+ Use Excel and digital tools such as BlueBeam or 3D modeling platforms to perform pricing, takeoffs, and cost analysis.
+ Solicit, collect, and organize subcontractor and vendor bids or quotations for assigned scopes of work.
+ Develop and nurture strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients to support successful project delivery.
+ Prepare subcontractor analysis sheets for assigned scopes of work, comparing proposals and identifying the most suitable options.
+ Evaluate project changes and subcontractor change order estimates, providing clear cost impact assessments and recommendations.
+ Provide expertise and cost insight across all phases of construction work, particularly in high-tech and semiconductor environments.
+ Collaborate closely with project management and other stakeholders to support project budgets, schedules, and financial reporting.
+ Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, presenting estimates, clarifications, and cost assumptions in a clear manner.
+ Perform other duties reasonably associated with the above essential functions and additional responsibilities assigned by leadership. Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 5+ years of experience in electrical estimating or cost management within construction, preferably in hi-tech or semiconductor projects.
+ Strong electrical background, with experience in semiconductor construction highly preferred.
+ Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator, Cost Consultant, Quantity Surveyor, or Cost Manager in commercial construction.
+ Demonstrated ability to develop project budgets and perform detailed quantity surveying and takeoffs.
+ Advanced proficiency in Excel, including fast, high-volume data handling and complex spreadsheet use for pricing and analysis.
+ Experience using BlueBeam or similar digital tools and 3D modeling for quantity takeoffs and estimate preparation.
+ Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with clients, project teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
+ Intermediate knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
+ Knowledge of On Screen Takeoff estimating software.
+ Strong project management awareness and ability to support project budgets and timelines in a construction environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in hi-tech construction environments, particularly semiconductor facilities.
+ Quickbase knowledge is a plus for data management and workflow tracking. + background in cost consulting or owners' representative roles supporting large, complex projects.
+ Familiarity with quantity survey methodologies and best practices in construction estimating.
+ Ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
+ Interest in ongoing professional development and continuing education through platforms such as Udemy.
+ Comfort working in a client-facing capacity, presenting estimates and cost information to diverse stakeholders. Work Environment This is a salaried position designed around a 40-hour workweek that promotes work-life balance. The role follows a hybrid work model, with four days per week on site at a semiconductor construction facility in Chandler, AZ and one day working remotely. The environment is highly collaborative, with frequent interaction among project teams, clients, and stakeholders. Team members use a range of technologies and software, including Excel, BlueBeam, 3D modeling tools, On Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Office applications, and Quickbase where applicable. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chandler, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.67 - $72.11/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
