This position serves as an important bridge between Business Development and Preconstruction , helping create continuity as projects move from pursuit to execution. On the front end, you'll partner closely with the Business Development team , providing estimating expertise, developing project pricing, evaluating scope and cost considerations, and helping build competitive proposals that support the team in closing new business . Once a contract is awarded, your role shifts with the project. You'll help transition the opportunity into preconstruction, coordinating with engineering, project management, and operations to ensure project scope, design requirements, budgets, documentation, and contractual commitments are clearly communicated and aligned. In short, you'll understand what we sold, how we priced it, and what needs to happen next — helping ensure important information doesn't get lost between departments as a project moves forward. The ideal candidate brings experience in construction estimating and/or preconstruction, along with a general understanding of engineering concepts and construction contracts . Renewable energy, solar, electrical, or related construction experience is strongly preferred. This position offers a hybrid work schedule, with time divided between working remotely and working in the office.

What You'll DoPre-Contract:

Estimating & Business Development Support Partner closely with Business Development to evaluate prospective renewable energy projects and support the development of competitive proposals. Develop and support project estimates, budgets, and cost models. Review project plans, specifications, scopes of work, engineering information, and bid documentation. Perform and/or assist with quantity takeoffs, material pricing, labor estimates, subcontractor costs, and other components of project estimates. Solicit and evaluate pricing and proposals from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers. Work collaboratively with Business Development to evaluate pricing strategies, project requirements, and potential risks. Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, cost considerations, and other issues that could impact project pricing or execution. Assist with bid preparation, proposal development, estimate reviews, and scope clarification. Provide estimating expertise and project information that helps Business Development move opportunities toward successful contract award. Maintain accurate estimating documentation, assumptions, exclusions, pricing information, and supporting records.

Post-Contract:

Engineering & Preconstruction Coordination Once a project is awarded, you'll help ensure a smooth transition from sale to execution .

You'll:

Facilitate the handoff of awarded projects from Business Development and estimating to engineering and preconstruction. Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure project requirements, pricing assumptions, scopes, and contractual commitments are clearly understood. Review engineering documentation for alignment with the contracted scope and estimate. Track design development and identify changes that may impact project cost, scope, schedule, or constructability. Help facilitate communication between engineering, preconstruction, project management, operations, and other project stakeholders. Track preconstruction milestones, deliverables, outstanding information, and deadlines. Assist with resolving scope questions and discrepancies as projects move through engineering and preconstruction. Help ensure the project team has the information and documentation needed before construction begins. Contracts & Project Continuity Review contracts, scopes of work, proposals, and related project documents to understand project requirements and obligations. Identify potential inconsistencies between the estimate, proposal, contract, engineering documents, and final project scope . Maintain organized and accurate project documentation throughout the transition from estimating through preconstruction. Assist with scope clarification and change documentation as needed. Help protect the integrity of the original estimate and project assumptions as the project moves into execution. Serve as a consistent point of coordination across departments, helping prevent critical project information from getting lost during handoffs. What You Bring Previous experience in construction estimating, preconstruction, project coordination, or a related construction role . General knowledge of engineering concepts and construction documentation. Working knowledge of construction contracts, scopes of work, plans, and specifications. Experience within renewable energy, solar, electrical construction, EPC, or commercial/industrial construction preferred. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes, and technical documentation. Understanding of how estimating decisions and assumptions affect downstream project execution. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively across Business Development, engineering, preconstruction, project management, and operations . Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with estimating or construction management software is a plus. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant construction and estimating experience will also be considered. Previous solar or renewable energy experience is highly desirable. Work Environment This position follows a hybrid work schedule , providing the flexibility to work remotely while also spending scheduled time in the office for collaboration, meetings, project coordination, and other business needs. The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently from home while remaining highly responsive and connected to the broader Coldwell Solar team.
