This Long-term Contract position will focus on shaping accurate, compliant, and competitive pricing for government and prime contractor pursuits while working closely with program leadership, engineering, contracts, and finance. The ideal candidate brings strong estimating expertise in manufacturing environments and can translate technical and financial inputs into well-supported proposal strategies. This is a 4-month contract position 100% REMOTE Interim Sr. Program Estimator (contract position):
Responsibilities:
Build comprehensive cost models and pricing approaches for new business opportunities within aerospace and defense programs. Prepare detailed projections covering labor, materials, outside services, and other direct and indirect cost elements tied to each proposal. Produce and update basis-of-estimate documentation that clearly explains assumptions, methodologies, and supporting rationale. Review solicitation and contract requirements to develop pricing responses that align with customer expectations and applicable regulations. Partner with engineering teams to interpret technical data, including drawings and manufacturing inputs, and convert them into sound estimating assumptions. Contribute to proposal evaluations, fact-finding activities, and customer-facing pricing discussions by providing clear cost justifications. Develop ongoing cost forecasts and estimates at completion to support program planning and financial visibility. Conduct risk assessments and sensitivity analyses to identify cost drivers, pricing exposure, and areas requiring management attention. Support negotiation efforts by preparing pricing backup and responding to questions from internal stakeholders and external customers. Ensure estimating activities follow relevant government contracting standards, customer requirements, and company procedures. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Engineering, Business, Accounting, or a related discipline. At least 7 years of experience in government contract estimating, pricing, program finance, or a closely related area. Proven background supporting aerospace and defense programs, ideally within a manufacturing environment. Strong proficiency in Excel with the ability to create and manage complex pricing and cost models. Familiarity with government contracting and proposal compliance practices relevant to defense customers. Experience using ERP or estimating platforms such as Epicor, Costpoint, Unanet, or Oracle is preferred. Comfortable collaborating with engineering teams and reviewing technical drawings to inform estimate development. Must be eligible to work in the U.S.; an active Secret clearance is preferred.
