Job Description

We are currently looking for a Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team.
MUST HAVE FULL-CYCLE COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE WITH A GENERAL CONTRACTOR, OVERSEEING PROJECTS ACROSS MULTIPLE TRADES FROM PRECONSTRUCTION THROUGH CLOSEOUT
Primary Purpose of Role:
A Ryzec Building Group Estimator plays a critical operations role in bridging project planning and field execution. This individual is responsible for managing the early phases of construction projects, including cost estimating, budgeting, value engineering, and proposal development. This role requires a detail-oriented, highly organized professional with strong technical knowledge of construction means and methods, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and design partners. The Estimator is instrumental in positioning projects—and Ryzec—for successful execution and profitability.
Essential Responsibilities:
Analyze project plans and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor bids. Manage the bid process from start to finish, including soliciting subcontractor bids, reviewing proposals, and preparing bid packages for submission. Conduct thorough cost analysis to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and ensure competitive pricing. Lead the preparation of conceptual, schematic, and detailed estimates and budgets Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure complete scope coverage and competitive pricing Develop comprehensive bid proposals, including schedules, scope narratives, assumptions, and clarifications Prepare and assemble public bid packages in compliance with applicable requirements Collaborate with architects, engineers, and consultants to identify and resolve design gaps or constructability issues Perform value engineering and cost optimization reviews throughout the preconstruction process Participate in client presentations, interviews, and contract negotiations Serve as a liaison between preconstruction, operations, and field teams to ensure seamless project transition Support business development efforts through strong client engagement and relationship management Maintain and strengthen relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners Evaluate project risks and opportunities, providing recommendations to mitigate risks and enhance project profitability. Maintain detailed records of estimates, bids, and project documents in accordance with company policies and industry regulations. Work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to clarify project requirements and develop comprehensive bids that meet client expectations. Demonstrated experience with public bid projects, including familiarity with government regulations, bidding processes, and compliance requirements. Must adhere to all guidelines in the Employee Handbook by displaying responsibility & knowledge of project budgets
What We Are Looking For:
Degree in construction or equivalent experience (3+ years) with a solid understanding of the industry Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, with a proven track record of successfully bidding on and securing negotiated and public projects. Ability to work under pressure & coordinate numerous activities & groups of people simultaneously. Quick thinking, motivated individual willing to learn our business & our clients. Dependable & able to work a flexible schedule as workflow dictates. Ability to read & interpret detailed blueprints. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing Experience with value engineering and cost analysis Must be able to value engineer a set of construction documents Experienced in construction specific software (i.e. Redteam, Microsoft Project, Excel, Smartsheets, Bluebeam, etc.) to effectively organize & manage the project process Ability to understand big picture construction processes to drive projects/programs to a successful completion while working with a varied team of clients, field managers, project design team, superintendents, subcontractors, & vendors Ability to adapt to changing demands & priorities Strong analytical skills in evaluating situations Excellent oral & written communication skills Strong leadership and team collaboration skills High level of organization and attention to detail Self-motivated with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
Work Environment:
General construction Travel- 25% Occasional evening or weekend work as project demands require Ability to lift 50 lbs

Pay:
$90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
