Full Job Description Estimator Location:
North Texas (McKinney / Celina / Prosper area) Position Overview The Estimator position is the second level in our Estimating track and is achieved after completion of required new-hire training tasks. This position is responsible for creating and managing estimates and jobs across residential, commercial, and industrial lines of business. The Estimator will meet with clients, develop accurate and competitive estimates using Xactimate, manage projects through completion, review budgets, and communicate progress with clients and management. Estimators will also review invoices and labor costs in a timely manner to ensure all costs are accurately captured in monthly job costs. Upon completion of required training, qualified candidates will achieve the appropriate Estimator title and position level. Responsibilities Establish and maintain local clientele capable of referring losses, primarily insurance adjusters, as well as community business owners, schools, and municipalities. Create accurate floor plans using Xactimate Sketch. Maintain working knowledge of applicable local building codes. Create and adhere to acceptable project budgets and address cost overages as they arise. Follow company standards for naming estimates, revised estimates, proposals, change orders, and related documentation. Maintain knowledge of applicable local building codes. Maintain construction schedules and coordinate with trades and management to ensure work is completed on time. Identify and present solutions when additional resources are needed. Demonstrate proficiency in source removal, decontamination, mitigation, containment, ventilation, contents handling, and deodorization techniques. Demonstrate proficiency with investigative demolition, controlled demolition, structural cleaning, decontamination, and deodorization services. Participate in continued company training, including Xactimate training and preparation for applicable Estimator Level 2 or Level 3 User Certification testing. Independently manage assigned work and responsibilities. Maintain vehicle safety and maintenance inspections and keep vehicles clean and serviceable. Complete all accident, injury, and incident reporting forms accurately and on time. Apply strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Contribute to the continued improvement of company operations and industry-leading practices. Comply with company and department policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards. Requirements Develop and maintain a client book of business appropriate to the Estimator level. Serve as the primary contact for owners, insurance adjusters, and consultants. Develop project scopes, negotiate pricing, and obtain agreements with customers. Follow company standards for formatting estimates and related documentation. Coordinate after-hours emergency services as directed, including board-ups, water damage, fire and smoke damage, and vandalism response. Consistently identify potential site hazards, including asbestos, lead paint, mold, and other environmental concerns. Conduct oneself professionally and courteously at all times. Proactively communicate information and respond promptly to requests for information. Apply industry TPA program standards and ensure compliance with applicable requirements. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of customer service principles and practices. Work effectively under time constraints to meet required timelines. Maintain strong attention to detail and safeguard customers' property and information. Attend company-sponsored operations and safety training courses as required. Qualifications English literacy and fluency. Understanding of
MSDS/SDS
data sheets and their applicability to restoration projects. Ability to follow company estimate formatting standards for Xactimate estimates, proposals, and related documentation. Extensive customer service experience. Advanced Microsoft Office skills. Experience using Xactimate. Professional demeanor and appearance with excellent telephone communication skills. Ability to work effectively with coworkers, subcontractors, vendors, customers, and other stakeholders. Physical Demands Frequent lifting of more than 50 lbs. without assistance. Ability to sit for extended periods. Manual dexterity required for keyboarding and other repetitive tasks. Ability to bend, crouch, stand, and move as necessary to perform job duties.
