Job Description
Job Description MasTec is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead cost estimating for large energy and utility infrastructure projects across North America. In this role, you will analyze plans and specifications, prepare detailed estimates, and develop competitive bids for power delivery, renewables, oil and gas, and communications work. You'll collaborate closely with project managers, engineering, procurement, and field teams to validate scopes, assess risks, and optimize project costs. Responsibilities Lead preparation of detailed cost estimates for utility and energy infrastructure projects Review drawings, specifications, and addenda to understand full project scope Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, and equipment pricing Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor and vendor bids Identify project risks, contingencies, and value-engineering opportunities Prepare and present bid proposals and cost summaries to leadership Collaborate with project management, engineering, and field teams to refine estimates Support handoff of successful bids to operations for project execution Maintain and update historical cost databases and estimating tools Ensure estimates align with Mas Tec's safety, quality, and performance standards Required Skills Construction cost estimating Utility and energy infrastructure knowledge Blueprint and spec reading Quantity takeoffs Estimating software (e.g., Heavy Bid, In Eight, On-Screen Takeoff) Excel and cost modeling RFP/RFQ and bid proposal development Subcontractor and vendor pricing analysis Risk and contingency assessment Scheduling and resource planning
