5+ years commercial roofing experience Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Roofing Estimator to join our San Marcos team. This is a key position within our Texas operation. We are looking for someone who is not only a strong estimator, but who can help lead and develop a team of estimators while ensuring our estimating process is accurate, efficient, organized, and responsive to our customers. The Senior Estimator will work closely with our sales, estimating, and operations teams from initial bid opportunity through project handoff. This person must be comfortable managing multiple priorities, reviewing complex plans and specifications, assisting with RFIs and submittals, and ensuring proposals are complete, concise, and accurately reflect the project scope. Key Responsibilities Lead, support, and help develop a team of estimators. Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial roofing and related scopes. Review plans, specifications, addenda, and other contract documents to identify complete project requirements. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Review estimates prepared by other team members for accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Work efficiently through multiple bid opportunities while meeting customer and internal deadlines. Prepare clear, concise, and professional proposals that accurately define scope, inclusions, exclusions, and qualifications. Assist with RFIs, submittals, product information, and other preconstruction requirements. Work closely with the sales team to evaluate opportunities, clarify scope, develop pricing strategies, and respond to customer questions. Identify scope gaps, potential risks, constructability concerns, and opportunities before projects are contracted. Participate in project handoffs to operations and communicate the assumptions and details behind the estimate. Help establish and maintain consistent estimating standards, processes, and accountability within the San Marcos team. Roofing & Exterior Scope Experience Candidates should have strong knowledge of commercial construction and experience estimating multiple roofing and exterior systems, including: TPO and other single-ply roofing systems Shingle roofing Standing seam and other metal roofing systems Metal wall panels Soffit and fascia Gutters and related sheet metal Insulation, cover board, flashings, accessories, and associated roofing components Qualifications Minimum 5 years of commercial roofing estimating experience. Strong understanding of commercial roofing systems, installation methods, materials, and specifications. Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, details, and contract documents. Proven ability to produce accurate takeoffs, estimates, and proposals. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, general contractors, manufacturers, salespeople, estimators, and operations personnel. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Comfortable taking ownership of problems and driving them through resolution. Leadership or management experience is preferred. Ability and willingness to coach, train, and develop other estimators is highly valued. What We Are Looking For The right person for this position is more than an experienced estimator.
