Commercial Construction Estimator
POSITION SUMMARY
: This position will collaborate with other team members to develop and execute detailed proposals on complex construction projects.
JOB DUTIES
Responsible for detailed and accurate quantity surveys Responsible for subcontractor and vendor bid solicitations Develop and implement bid strategies Accurately clarify and interpret subcontractor and vendor quotes. Must be able to identify scope gaps. Should be able to determine the best combinations on scopes of work and accurately disseminate differences. Develop crew productions and devise project durations Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally, as well as complete paperwork in a legible, organized manner. Must understand complex construction means and methods. Read and understand project specifications and construction drawings and be able to perform basic risk analysis. Must respond positively and quickly to constantly changing workflows. Can perform duties for a large complex project from start to finish with little to no oversight. Recommends processes and efficiency improvements to implement better work practices as they pertain to estimating. Actively mentor direct reports and peers. Develop and maintain relationships with owners, architects, and engineers. Develop conceptual and schematic budgets with limited information by drawing on previous experiences and historical data. Must be able to coordinate bid requirements with various design elements to produce competitive and complete proposals
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in construction management/ engineering or equivalent Must have strong computer skills and be well versed in Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, Estimating Extended (Timberline), Procore, and On-Screen Takeoff Experience with Design/Build Delivery is desired. Experience with commercial, medical, food service, new and renovation, and design/build and conceptual estimating is desired. Must possess sound organizational and time management skills. Some travel may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The ability to focus and perform detailed estimating and paperwork tasks for long durations of time. Sitting and standing in an office environment. Kelley Construction is a multi-faceted commercial and industrial general contractor licensed to perform work in many states across the United States. We offer a wealth of technical expertise in all areas of commercial construction including: restaurants, medical facilities, warehousing, fast food chains, large design-build expansions and general office renovation. We also have broad experience in industrial construction, from liquid storage and containment and petroleum related construction to pre-engineered metal buildings and concrete construction.
