Full-Time Position Summary Sierra Excavation is seeking a motivated, organized, and results-driven Project Manager / Estimator to oversee excavation, grading, utility, and site development projects from initial bid through project completion. This individual will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates, managing project schedules and budgets, coordinating crews and subcontractors, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably. The ideal candidate is highly organized, possesses strong communication skills, understands construction operations, and can successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEstimating Responsibilities Review plans, specifications, and bid documents. Perform quantity takeoffs for excavation, grading, utility installation, and site work projects. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing. Develop accurate project estimates and proposals. Prepare bid packages and submit project bids. Analyze project costs, labor requirements, equipment utilization, and production rates. Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when necessary. Maintain estimating databases and historical cost records. Track awarded and lost bids to improve future estimating accuracy. Project Management Responsibilities Manage projects from contract award through completion. Develop project schedules and coordinate project timelines. Plan and allocate labor, equipment, and materials. Coordinate with field supervisors, foremen, subcontractors, vendors, and clients. Monitor project budgets and profitability. Review and approve invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor payments. Track project progress and identify potential delays or cost overruns. Prepare change orders and negotiate pricing with clients. Conduct regular project meetings and site visits. Ensure projects are completed according to plans, specifications, and company standards. Maintain project documentation and records. Client & Business Development Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, developers, municipalities, and engineers. Participate in networking opportunities and industry events. Assist in securing new business opportunities. Provide exceptional customer service throughout the life of each project. Safety & Compliance Promote Sierra Excavation's commitment to workplace safety. Ensure projects comply with OSHA requirements and company safety policies. Conduct regular site inspections and safety reviews. Support and enforce company policies and procedures. QualificationsPreferred Experience 3+ years of experience in excavation, civil construction, grading, utilities, or site development. Experience estimating construction projects. Experience managing multiple construction projects simultaneously. Understanding of excavation methods, equipment, and production rates. Knowledge & Skills Strong understanding of construction plans and specifications. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong leadership and team coordination abilities. Ability to communicate professionally with clients, vendors, and team members. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Experience with estimating and project management software preferred. Ability to analyze budgets, schedules, and project costs. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Education Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Management, or related field preferred. Relevant industry experience may substitute for formal education. Physical Requirements Ability to visit active construction sites. Ability to walk uneven terrain and inspect project conditions. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. $72,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
