We specialize in valves, actuators, flow control equipment, and related products that play a critical role in municipal water and wastewater infrastructure. We are looking for a driven, organized, and detail-oriented Project Estimator / Manager to help us identify, estimate, secure, and manage waterworks projects from the bidding stage through final delivery. You are willing to learn, ask questions, and take responsibility when something doesn't go according to plan. Key Responsibilities 1. Project Estimating & Bid Preparation Review construction plans, specifications, valve schedules, and addenda for municipal water and wastewater projects. Identify valves, actuators, gates, flow control equipment, and related products within RMVA's scope. Perform accurate material takeoffs and develop complete project estimates. Determine applicable manufacturers and products based on project specifications. Obtain pricing and technical information from manufacturers and vendors. Identify specification conflicts, exceptions, and potential opportunities for approved equals. Prepare accurate and competitive quotations for contractors and customers. Ensure bids are completed and submitted before required deadlines. Maintain organized records of plans, specifications, vendor quotations, and bid documents. 2. Bid & Opportunity Management Track upcoming projects, bid dates, addenda, and quote deadlines. Maintain accurate project information within the company's CRM and project management systems. Coordinate with outside sales representatives on important projects and bidding strategies. Follow up on submitted quotations to determine project status and award information. Track awarded and lost projects and maintain accurate records of results. Assist the sales team in identifying opportunities to improve our position on future projects. 3. Project Management Once a project is awarded: Review customer purchase orders against RMVA's quotation and project scope. Coordinate purchase orders with manufacturers and vendors. Manage project requirements from order entry through final shipment. Track manufacturer acknowledgements, production schedules, and estimated ship dates. Coordinate project submittals, including drawings, technical data, and product information. Review returned submittals and coordinate required revisions. Communicate project status with customers, contractors, engineers, manufacturers, and the RMVA sales team. Identify potential delays or issues early and work with the appropriate parties to resolve them. Maintain accurate and organized project documentation throughout the life of the project. 4. Technical & Specification Review Develop a working knowledge of municipal waterworks valves, actuators, gates, and flow control equipment. Understand and interpret project specifications, drawings, valve schedules, and technical requirements. Become familiar with applicable AWWA standards and common municipal specifications. Review products for compliance with project requirements such as pressure class, materials, coatings, NSF certifications, and domestic manufacturing requirements. Work directly with manufacturers when additional technical information or engineering support is required. 5. Team Collaboration & Accountability Work closely with inside sales, outside sales, manufacturers, customers, and management. Participate in regular project and sales meetings. Communicate project risks, deadlines, and outstanding items before they become problems. Maintain accurate and current project information so other team members can quickly understand project status. Take ownership of assigned projects and follow through on commitments. What Winning Looks Like Accurate estimates with minimal missed scope. Bids submitted completely and on time. Projects remain organized from initial bid through final shipment. Customers receive timely and accurate project updates. Potential problems are identified before they become emergencies. Submittals, approvals, orders, and shipments are actively managed rather than simply monitored. Strong communication between customers, manufacturers, outside sales, and the RMVA team. Increasing knowledge of RMVA's products, manufacturers, and the municipal waterworks industry. A reputation for being dependable, honest, organized, and accountable. Required Skills & Qualifications Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Strong computer skills and ability to learn CRM, estimating, and project management systems. Comfortable working with numbers, pricing, spreadsheets, and detailed technical information. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. High level of integrity and professionalism. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Team-first attitude and willingness to help wherever needed. Ability and willingness to learn technical products and industry standards. Preferred Experience Estimating or project management experience in construction, waterworks, mechanical equipment, industrial equipment, or a related industry. Experience reviewing construction plans and specifications. Experience working with contractors, engineers, municipalities, manufacturers, or distributors. Knowledge of valves, actuators, piping systems, or municipal water/wastewater equipment is a plus. Industry-specific experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate who demonstrates strong technical aptitude, organization, ambition, and willingness to learn. Why Join Us?
