Job Description
Estimator — Heavy Civil At Sargent, hard work doesn't just get noticed, it gets rewarded. We're looking for an Estimator to join our preconstruction team. Working alongside the Lead Estimator, you'll play a key role in project success from the initial takeoff through award, guiding the handoff to Operations and staying engaged as a resource throughout the life of the project.

Build equity in the company as you grow with us Health, Dental and Vision PTO and paid holidays What You'll Do Build accurate, competitive estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and timelines using HCSS HeavyBid Interpret project plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports to pinpoint scope, risks, and opportunities Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and identify every required work activity Weigh cost scenarios, including subcontracting versus self-performance Source and engage subcontractors and material suppliers Track, assess, and pursue new project opportunities Guide the handoff of awarded projects from Estimating to Operations Support Operations with change order clarification and pricing Bring forward ideas that improve project outcomes and strengthen our competitive edge What We're Looking For 1-3 years of heavy civil earthwork estimating experience, a bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sharp attention to detail Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities Solid grasp of construction methods, means, and sequencing A track record of building strong relationships with clients, engineers, and vendors Valid driver's license Nice to Have HCSS HeavyBid Agtek or Trimble Business Center AutoCAD (earthwork takeoff) Growth and Development We invest in our people.
