Wolf Contractors Inc. has been a top site contractor in the Hampton Roads area for over 40 years and has completed over 1,030 civil construction projects in the Tidewater area. Wolf Contractors is seeking a motivated individual for a full time Lead Estimator position to join our team in Newport News, VA. Lead Estimator must be an expert in the underground utility and sitework industry. As a Lead Estimator at Wolf Contractors Inc, you'll use your skills to prepare bids for projects throughout the Hampton Roads.
Duties and responsibilities:
Review plans and specifications to thoroughly understand the scope of a project and the project specific requirements relative to estimating the cost of the work. Accurately estimate plan/spec and design/build site development, underground utility, and road building projects. Solicit vendor and subcontractor quotations and review for scope compliance. Prepare estimates by calculating a complete takeoff of site development and underground utility projects. Attend Pre-Bid Meetings when required. Establish and maintain vendor relationships. Attend site visits and surveys to verify scope and apply it in the cost estimating process. Review the details of estimates with management, prior to submission of our Company's proposal. Manage preconstruction RFI's submitted and received on assigned project(s). Participate in turnover meetings to project management teams.Qualifications:
Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and other construction documents. Expert in the earthwork and underground utility industry. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient computer and software skills preferably in Excel, Microsoft Word, and Bluebeam or Adobe. Estimating software (In-Site, AGTEK, or Bid to Win) experience is necessary. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize responsibilities. Strong organizational skills and attention to details. Required Experience Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline 7+ years of field experience in site development, earthwork, underground utilities, or road building.
