We serve a diverse clientele across residential, commercial, and luxury segments — from single-family home renovations and investment property flips to high-end condos, hotels, and commercial build-outs across Oahu. We specialize in hardwood, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), tile, and a full range of hard surface flooring solutions. Our team takes pride in delivering top-quality craftsmanship on every job, and we are growing fast. We are looking for experienced, dependable installers who take pride in their work and want to be part of something built to last. Position Summary The Flooring Installation Pro is a skilled field technician responsible for the professional installation, repair, and finishing of all flooring types across residential, commercial, and luxury job sites throughout Honolulu and the greater Oahu area. This role requires expert-level knowledge of multiple flooring systems, strong problem-solving ability, and the professionalism to represent Hawaii Flooring Specialists in high-end client environments. The ideal candidate brings solid experience, sharp attention to detail, and a work ethic that shows up every day. Core ResponsibilitiesInstallation & Technical Work Install solid hardwood, engineered hardwood, LVP, laminate, ceramic tile, porcelain tile, natural stone, and carpet flooring to manufacturer and industry standards Perform proper subfloor preparation including leveling, patching, sanding, and moisture testing prior to installation Execute nail-down, glue-down, float, and click-lock installation methods as required by product and site conditions Accurately measure, cut, and fit flooring materials with minimal waste, including intricate cuts around obstacles, doorways, and transitions Install all associated trim, moldings, reducers, T-moldings, stair nosings, and transition strips to a clean, professional finish Complete tile layouts with consistent grout joints, apply grout and caulk, and seal finished surfaces as specified Sand, stain, and finish hardwood floors to client specifications using drum sanders, edge sanders, and buffer equipment Repair and patch existing floors — including hardwood refinishing, board replacement, LVP spot repairs, and re-grouting tile Site & Project Management Review job specs, floor plans, and material orders before arriving on site to ensure preparedness Manage daily workflow and prioritize tasks to meet project timelines and deadlines Coordinate with project managers and office staff on scheduling, material needs, and site updates Conduct pre-installation walk-throughs with clients to confirm scope, preferences, and any site considerations Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site throughout the duration of the project Document daily progress, flag issues or change-order needs, and communicate status updates to the team Protect existing surfaces, furniture, and finishes during installation work Team & Client Interaction Lead a small installation crew on larger projects, providing direction and quality oversight Mentor apprentice-level installers and helpers on proper techniques and site expectations Interface directly with homeowners, property managers, and commercial clients in a professional and respectful manner Address client questions and concerns on-site, escalating to management when needed Represent the Hawaii Flooring Specialists brand with a positive attitude and high standard of conduct Tools, Equipment & Safety Operate and maintain all hand and power tools including miter saws, table saws, pneumatic nailers, flooring staplers, tile saws, grinders, and belt/drum sanders Properly load, transport, and unload materials and equipment between warehouse and job sites Follow OSHA safety standards and company safety protocols at all times Conduct daily tool and equipment inspections and report maintenance needs promptly Use PPE consistently including knee pads, eye protection, dust masks, and hearing protection Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of hands-on flooring installation experience across multiple flooring types — this is a working role, not an apprenticeship Demonstrated proficiency with hardwood (solid and engineered), LVP, and tile installation Strong working knowledge of subfloor preparation, moisture mitigation, and underlayment requirements Ability to read and interpret floor plans, blueprints, and material spec sheets Proficient with all standard flooring installation tools and equipment Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between job sites on Oahu or Maui Physical ability to kneel, bend, lift up to 75 lbs, and work on hard surfaces for extended periods Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, finished work Ability to work independently as well as part of a crew Professional communication skills — courteous with clients and teammates Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of flooring installation experience with a portfolio of completed residential and commercial projects Experience with high-end or luxury flooring installations in premium residential or hospitality settings NWFA (National Wood Flooring Association) certification or equivalent industry credential Experience with Schluter tile systems, radiant heat flooring, or floating floor systems over concrete Prior leadership or crew lead experience on multi-day job sites Familiarity with Hawaii-specific conditions including humidity management, concrete slab substrates, and corrosion considerations for tools/fasteners Basic knowledge of project management tools or apps for tracking job status Skills & Competencies Technical Skills Professional Skills Hardwood installation & refinishing LVP & laminate systems Ceramic, porcelain & stone tile Subfloor prep & leveling Moisture testing & mitigation Trim, transitions & stair work Tool operation & maintenance Time management & reliability Client communication Team leadership & mentorship Problem-solving under pressure Attention to detail & quality control Professionalism on premium sites Safety awareness & compliance Physical Requirements This is a physically demanding role.
Candidates must be able to:
