Veterans Floors Inc. is a family-owned hardwood gym floor company since 2011, specializing in sanding, repairs, finishing and maintenance of athletic wood floors. We are looking for a dependable, hardworking individual to join our crew and build a long-term career in the hardwood flooring trade. We're not looking for someone who simply wants a job for a few months. We're looking for someone who wants to learn a specialized trade and build a career with our company. As a member of our sanding crew, you will work as part of a team repairing, sanding and finishing hardwood athletic floors in schools, park districts and other athletic facilities throughout the area. Experience in hardwood flooring, construction, or similar trades is required, but we are willing to train the right individual. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, shows up ready to work and wants to learn a specialized trade.
Responsibilities:
  • Operate and assist with commercial floor sanding equipment.
  • Sand & prep hardwood gym floors for finishing
  • Perform floor prep, taping, measuring and layouts
  • Apply stains, sealers, paints, finishes
  • Occasionally assist with gym floor painting, logos, lines & graphics
  • Install & repair hardwood athletic flooring
  • Maintain a clean and organized jobsite
  • Load, unload, and care for tools and equipment
  • Work efficiently as part of a team
  • Represent Veterans Floors Inc. professionally at schools and athletic facilities
  • Travel with company vehicle and large enclosed trailer to job sites

  • Must be able to pass background check for schools
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Previous construction or carpentry experience is required.
Schedule & Travel This is a full-time position. Summer months & school breaks include significant overtime . During the slower season, employees can expect a 40-hour work week , which will include site visits and shop maintenance. Travel is required, but most jobs are completed with employees home in the evenings. Some overnight travel may be necessary. Compensation Many of our IL projects are performed under Carpenters' & Painters' prevailing-wage requirements, while other work is paid hourly depending on the project.
Starting Shop/Travel/Hourly Pay:
$20/hr.
Non-Prevailing Job Sites:
$30-40/hr. based on experience Prevailing Wage varies by County.

Cook Co.
Carpenter:
$105.33/hr. Winnebago Co.
Carpenter:
$91.05/hr.
