General Manager / Director of Operations Position Overview Casco Bay Cleaning Services LLC is seeking an experienced, hands-on Floor Care Manager to lead and oversee floor care operations across multiple client locations. This role combines team leadership with technical floor care expertise. The Floor Care Manager will be responsible for supervising and training floor care technicians, coordinating daily and project-based schedules, ensuring appropriate staffing and job coverage, maintaining equipment and supplies, and ensuring all work meets Casco Bay's quality, safety, and client-service standards. The ideal candidate has strong commercial floor care experience, understands a variety of flooring surfaces and restoration techniques, and is comfortable both leading a team and working hands-on when needed. Key Responsibilities Floor Care Operations & Team Leadership Lead, train, supervise, and support a team of floor care technicians across assigned client locations. Coordinate daily assignments, project schedules, staffing coverage, and workflow to ensure floor care services are completed on time and to specification. Develop and maintain floor care schedules for routine maintenance and specialized projects, including stripping and refinishing, waxing, buffing, burnishing, carpet extraction, deep cleaning, and other floor restoration services. Provide hands-on support when necessary and ensure technicians are following proper floor care procedures and techniques. Conduct regular inspections of completed work to ensure quality standards and client expectations are consistently met. Coach team members on performance, productivity, safety, equipment use, and proper floor care techniques. Technical Floor Care & Equipment Management Perform and oversee commercial floor care services on a variety of flooring materials, including VCT, hardwood, tile and grout, carpet, concrete, and other specialty flooring. Operate and troubleshoot commercial floor care equipment, including auto scrubbers, burnishers, buffers, carpet extractors, and related machinery. Ensure equipment is properly cleaned, maintained, stored, and available for scheduled work. Maintain equipment service and repair records and coordinate repairs when necessary. Oversee proper chemical selection, dilution, application, storage, and handling in accordance with OSHA requirements, manufacturer instructions, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Monitor inventory of floor finishes, cleaning chemicals, equipment, tools, and other supplies to ensure teams have the materials required to complete scheduled work. Quality, Safety & Client Service Ensure all floor care work meets Casco Bay Cleaning Services' quality standards and individual client specifications. Identify and address quality issues promptly and coordinate corrective work when required. Communicate professionally with clients, site contacts, technicians, and internal management regarding schedules, service needs, project status, and any operational concerns. Respond to special floor care requests, urgent service needs, spills, touch-ups, and other client requirements. Enforce company safety procedures, including proper PPE use, wet-floor and slip/trip hazard prevention, chemical handling, and safe equipment operation. Promote a professional, productive, accountable, and safety-focused team environment.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
3+ years of commercial floor care experience, including hands-on experience with specialized floor maintenance and restoration techniques.
Leadership Experience:
At least 1-2 years of experience as a lead technician, supervisor, manager, or similar team leadership role preferred.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong working knowledge of commercial floor care procedures for VCT, hardwood, tile and grout, carpet, concrete, and other flooring surfaces. Demonstrated experience with stripping and refinishing, waxing, buffing/burnishing, carpet extraction, deep cleaning, and commercial floor care equipment. Strong organizational and scheduling skills with the ability to manage multiple client locations and service priorities. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control and customer service. Ability to train, coach, and hold team members accountable to performance and safety standards.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand and walk for extended periods, and safely operate commercial floor care equipment.
Driver's License:
Valid driver's license required for travel between client locations in the Portland/Maine service area.
