Job Description
Position Summary The Commercial/Residential Installer Technician plays a critical role in turning sold work into completed, high-quality installations that drive revenue, customer satisfaction, and long-term reliability. This position is responsible for completing residential and commercial installations safely, efficiently, and according to quality standards. Responsibilities include loading the correct materials, installing garage doors and operators, following job documentation and installation instructions, and completing all required job checklists. The Installer Technician directly impacts installation quality, schedule performance, safety, and the organization's ability to complete work correctly the first time. Key Responsibilities Installation Execution Install residential and commercial garage doors, overhead doors, rolling steel doors, and electric operators Perform installation tasks including mounting track, winding springs, installing hardware, assembling door sections, and installing trim Read and follow job documentation and installation instructions accurately Complete installations in accordance with quality and safety standards Material & Job Preparation Review work orders and load the correct materials for each assigned job Verify that all required tools, hardware, and door components are available before leaving for the jobsite Help prevent installation delays and errors by ensuring proper preparation Handle materials carefully during loading, transportation, and installation Tool & Equipment Operation Safely operate hand and power tools including drills, impact drivers, saws, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, hammers, chisels, and other installation equipment Read a tape measure accurately Follow safe operating procedures for all tools and equipment Read wiring diagrams and assist with operator installations when required Physical Work & Jobsite Readiness Perform physically demanding installation work, including lifting heavy materials Work on ladders, lifts, and elevated surfaces as required Adapt to both residential and commercial installation environments Follow supervisor instructions and contribute to efficient jobsite operations Documentation, Safety & Professionalism Complete required pre-installation and post-installation checklists Follow all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and safety procedures Maintain dependable attendance and arrive prepared for each workday Represent the organization professionally while working at customer locations Working Expectations Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to work safely Measure accurately, load materials correctly, and minimize installation errors Follow work instructions and documentation without shortcuts Take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship Maintain safe work practices and demonstrate professionalism on every jobsite Tools & Equipment Work orders and installation documentation Hand tools Power tools Drills and impact drivers Chop saws Wrenches and sockets Screwdrivers Hammers and chisels Tape measure Wiring diagrams Personal protective equipment (PPE) Company-provided vehicle (when applicable) Qualifications Experience installing garage doors, overhead doors, or similar products preferred Basic knowledge of hand and power tools required Ability to accurately read a tape measure Ability to read and follow work orders and installation instructions Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physically demanding work Comfortable working at heights Valid driver's license with a good driving record preferred Welding experience preferred Basic electrical knowledge and the ability to read wiring diagrams preferred We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information.
