Position Summary The Spray Foam Applicator is responsible for safely and efficiently setting up, operating, and maintaining specialized equipment to apply polyurethane foam insulation (open-cell and closed-cell) to residential, commercial, or industrial structures in accordance with project specifications and building codes. Key Job Responsibilities 1.

Pre-Job Preparation & Safety Setup Jobsite Survey:

Inspect the work area to review the scope of work, identify electrical and security wiring, and verify substrate conditions (e.g., moisture levels, cleanliness).

Containment & Protection:

Set up plastic sheeting, tape, and protective barriers to prevent overspray on windows, doors, adjacent surfaces, and customer property or vehicles.

Safety Compliance:

Adhere strictly to OSHA standards and company safety manuals. Ensure proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn, including supplied-air respirators or cartridge filter masks, eye protection, and protective suits. 2.

Equipment Operation & Material Application Rig & Proportioner Management:

Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot high-pressure spray foam rigs, proportioners (e.g., Graco reactors), heated hoses, and spray guns (e.g., Fusion AP).

Chemical Application:

Spray two-component polyurethane foam uniformly onto target substrates—such as interior stud walls, roof decks, attics, crawl spaces, or metal building exteriors—to achieve required thickness and R-values.

Quality Control:

Continuously check foam density, adhesion, and thickness to ensure compliance with thermal performance standards and prevent material waste or overspray. 3.

Post-Application & Clean-Up Finishing:

Trim excess or scrapped foam, bag waste materials, and perform necessary touch-up work or can-foaming around window/door jambs.

Site Restoration:

Clean up the jobsite thoroughly, ensuring all tools, equipment, and trash are packed back into the rig truck.

Client Handover:

Conduct a final walk-through with the site supervisor or homeowner (if applicable) to ensure satisfaction and review the completed work.

Core Qualifications & Requirements Experience:

Prior experience operating high-pressure proportioning equipment and applying open-cell/closed-cell polyurethane foam.

Certifications:

Valid

OSHA 10/30

certification, manufacturer training credentials (e.g., BASF, Demilec, Lapolla), and a passing respirator medical evaluation/fit test.

Physical Stamina:

Ability to stand/walk for long periods, work in confined spaces (attics/crawl spaces), endure varying environmental temperatures, and frequently lift heavy equipment and materials (50-60+ lbs).

Driver's License:

A valid driver's license with a clean driving record to travel to various job sites.
