Welder / Steel Erector (Structural Steel Fitter/Welder)

00 per hour Job Summary The Structural Steel Fitter/Welder fabricates, assembles, repairs, and welds structural steel components used in commercial and industrial buildings. This position is responsible for interpreting fabrication drawings, laying out and fitting materials, performing welding operations, and ensuring all products meet quality and safety standards while delivering "Right. On Time. Every Time." Key Responsibilities Follow all safety procedures, environmental controls, quality standards, and PPE requirements. Adhere to setup procedures, work instructions, and operational standards. Report equipment issues promptly and maintain a clean, organized work area. Complete production records and tracking accurately. Cross-train and support other production operations as needed. Operate welding and fabrication equipment, including: Welding machines Wire feeders Oxy-fuel equipment Plasma cutters Grinders Clamps Other fabrication tools Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, sketches, specifications, welding symbols, and standards. Measure, position, align, assemble, fit, and weld structural steel components. Inspect materials, subassemblies, and finished welds to ensure compliance with specifications and AWS standards. Correct weld distortion using approved methods. Clean welds and surrounding work areas. Mark, tag, and identify materials and finished products. Move materials manually or using lifting equipment. Perform other duties as assigned. QualificationsMinimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 1 year of welding experience (structural steel preferred), or an Associate Degree in Welding. Ability to pass

Welder Qualification Test for unlimited thickness in the 2G position . Current crane and forklift certifications (if applicable). Skills & Success Factors Strong attention to detail. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Occasional sitting, climbing, crawling, and lifting up to 55 lbs . Must be able to wear a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) . Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities. Work Environment Manufacturing and outdoor work environments. Exposure to machinery, moving equipment, and vehicles. Noisy and non-temperature-controlled conditions. Schedule & Travel Must be willing to work at other facilities as needed. Weekend, alternate shift, and on-call work may be required.

welder qualification test (2G position, unlimited thickness)? Do you have experience reading fabrication drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols? Which welding processes do you have professional experience with — FCAW (Flux Core), GMAW (MIG), SMAW (Stick), Other, or None? Do you have experience fitting and assembling structural steel components before welding? Are you comfortable working in a manufacturing and outdoor environment while wearing required PPE, including a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR)? Can you frequently lift up to 55 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing throughout your shift? Do you have experience operating fabrication equipment such as plasma cutters, oxy-fuel torches, grinders, or similar tools? Do you have current crane and/or forklift certifications, or are you willing to obtain them if required? Are you available to work weekends, alternate shifts, overtime, and at other facilities if business needs require it?
