Certified Structural Steel Welder/Fabricator Full-time | Reseda, California | In person About Universal Awning Universal Awning & Shade is a custom design, fabrication, and installation company serving commercial and residential customers throughout Southern California. Our Reseda metal shop fabricates steel awnings, canopies, trellises, frames, posts, brackets, base plates, and other custom architectural structures. What we're looking for We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Welder/Fabricator who can take a project from raw material to a properly fitted and welded assembly. This is a hands-on shop position for someone who is confident reading drawings, laying out steel, fitting components, and producing consistent, high-quality welds. The ideal candidate has worked in a structural steel or heavy-fabrication shop and understands how to build custom products accurately and efficiently. Responsibilities Lay out, fit, fabricate, and weld structural steel assemblies Build frames, posts, brackets, plates, trusses, and canopy components Read shop drawings, measurements, details, and welding symbols Measure, cut, drill, grind, cope, and prepare steel components Check assemblies for correct dimensions, alignment, fit, and weld quality Safely operate welding machines and standard fabrication equipment Work with the design and production teams to solve fabrication issues Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Ideal candidate The right person has extensive structural steel fabrication experience, strong fitting and layout skills, and pride in producing clean, accurate work. Current AWS or Los Angeles City welding certification is preferred. Candidates should be prepared to complete a practical welding and fabrication test.
