We need a motivated individual who is familiar with the structural steel fabrication process. We're a steel fabrication company that produces anything from small precision components to massive structural members. This position is for a skilled, experienced Structural Steel Layout/Fitter that is confident in their ability to layout and fit stairs, handrails and more complex assemblies.

Description of duties and responsibilities:

Must be able to layout and fit stairs and rails Receives instructions, prints, sketches and work orders then reads and interprets blueprints and plans in the fitting operation Reads and interprets blueprints and plans the fitting operation. Handling, spreading, measure, cut, layout, position, align, fit, and weld, grind or place bolts in proper location to fabricate and assemble columns, beams, girders, stairs, handrails and other structural steel components per plans Bolt, clamp and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding Lays out work lines or fits up jigs for positioning material when required; checks, squares, and scribes all detail connections. Burns and tack welds for assembly purposes. Burns, copes and bevels and straightens material. Follow welding procedures. Straightens materials by heat or flame. May perform scarfing. Keeps work area clean. Must be proficient in the full skills of the trade Details First (6am-2:30pm) Shift and Second Shift (2:30pm-11:00pm) available Rate of pay will depend on experience
