• Fabricates and assembles signs according to work orders, drawings, specifications, and established fabrication methods
• Experience with fabrication techniques such as cutting, routing, welding, bending, drilling, painting, vinyl application, assembly, and basic electrical work.
• Works with common sign materials: aluminum, steel, acrylic, ACM, PVC, wood, etc.
• Operate and maintain fabrication equipment and tools safely and effectively, some of which include CNC router, engravers, welders, saws, metal cutting and bending equipment.
• Completes standard and moderately complex fabrication projects with limited supervision
• Maintains quality, accuracy, efficiency, and production schedules
• Works collaboratively with other fabricators, installers, designers, and project managers Core Responsibilities
• Read and interpret work orders, shop/fabrication drawings, dimensions, and production specifications.
• Accurately measure, mark, cut, drill, route, bend, weld, assemble, and finish sign components
• Operate common fabrication equipment safely and effectively
• Set up and operate CNC routers for routine production work, including loading and securing materials, establishing material origin/zero, selecting appropriate tooling, and running established programs
• Perform basic CNC router troubleshooting and recognize when machine or programming issues require assistance
• Perform MIG/TIG welding and basic metal fabrication with consistent quality
• Operate saws, grinders, drill presses, sheet-metal brakes/shears, routers, and other applicable shop equipment
• Prepare surfaces for painting, finishing, vinyl application, and other sign finishes
• Assemble sign cabinets, channel letters, raceways, frames, panels, and other sign components.
• Install LED modules, wiring, and basic electrical components in accordance with established shop procedures and applicable requirements.
• Perform quality-control checks throughout the fabrication process and correct routine defects or fabrication issues
• Identify and troubleshoot routine fabrication, equipment, and assembly problems independently
• Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition and report damaged or malfunctioning equipment
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Properly handle, store, and dispose of materials and shop-related waste
• Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
• Work efficiently to meet established production schedules without compromising quality or safety
• Assist less-experienced fabricators with routine tasks and share knowledge of standard fabrication practices when appropriate Equipment and Tool Proficiency The Journeyman Sign Fabricator should be proficient in the safe operation and routine use of applicable shop equipment including: CNC & Routing Equipment
• CNC router
• Hand routers and trim routers
• Appropriate router bits and tooling
• CNC material setup, securing, and alignment
• Loading and running established CNC programs
• Basic CNC tool changes and routine machine maintenance
• Basic troubleshooting of common routing issues Metal Fabrication Equipment
• MIG welder
• Metal shop saw, cold saw, or band saw
• Drill press
• Angle and bench grinders

• Work independently on standard and moderately complex fabrication projects with limited supervision
• Understand and follow shop drawings without constant supervision
• Use common shop tools and equipment competently
• Produce work to established quality, accuracy, appearance, and durability standards
• Perform routine MIG welding and metal fabrication with consistency
• Operate the CNC router safely and effectively
• Identify routine fabrication problems and know when to ask for assistance
• Perform basic welding/fabrication with consistency
• Complete assigned work within expected production times
• Communicate effectively with other fabricator and shop personnel regarding project requirements or potential issues
• Continue developing advanced fabrication skills Qualifications
• Previous experience in sign fabrication, metal fabrication, manufacturing, construction, or a related field preferred
• Demonstrated ability to perform routine fabrication work with limited supervision
• Ability to read and interpret basic shop/fabrication drawings, measurements, and fabrication instruction
• Proficiency with common hand tools and power tools
• Demonstrated experience with basic metal fabrication and MIG welding
• Experience operating a CNC router or similar CNC equipment preferred
• Ability to accurately measure, calculate dimensions, and work from specifications
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot routine equipment and fabrication issues
• Ability to work independently while also taking direction and working as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
• Ability to safely lift, carry, and move materials and sign components appropriate to the job
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record Physical Requirements
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time
• Frequent use of hands and arms for tools and fabrication
• Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and work in various positions
• Ability to lift and move materials/sign components
• Ability to work around noise, dust, fumes, machinery, paints, adhesives, and other shop materials while following required safety procedures

Career Progression:

This position is intended to develop the skills and experience necessary for advancement to Master Sign Fabricator. Advancement is based on demonstrated fabrication skills, quality of work, ability to work independently, problem-solving ability, knowledge of shop processes, and demonstrated ability to handle increasingly complex projects.

Pay:

$27.00
