Summary The Shop Fabricator supports commercial construction fabrication activities in a shop environment. This position assists with sheet metal ductwork, plumbing spools and assemblies, framing components, structural welding, material preparation, finishing, and general shop operations. Responsibilities Fabrication & Shop Support Read and follow blueprints, shop drawings, measurements, and fabrication instructions Measure, mark, cut, drill, grind, and prepare materials for fabrication and assembly Fabricate and assemble sheet metal ductwork and related components Assist with plumbing spool fabrication, plumbing assemblies, framing fabrication, and structural welding Assembly & Finishing Fit, assemble, fasten, and prepare fabricated components for welding or installation Clean, grind, deburr, paint, label, and finish materials and completed assemblies Quality Control & Material Handling Inspect work for proper dimensions, fit, finish, and visible defects; organize and move materials as needed Tools, Maintenance & Safety Safely operate drills, chop saws, grinders, hand tools, welding equipment, and other shop machinery Maintain tools, equipment, work areas, and overall shop needs while following PPE and safety requirements
Requirements and Experience:
General fabrication, welding, construction, or shop experience preferred Ability to read basic blueprints, shop drawings, and measurements Ability to safely use drills, chop saws, grinders, hand tools, and fabrication equipment Strong attention to safety, quality, and productivity Basic math, measuring, and layout skills Ability to lift materials, stand for extended periods, and work as part of a team Occasional overtime or weekend work based in job needs Accept and perform other work as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Welding certification or related trade training or experience with commercial sheet metal, plumbing, piping, framing, or structural fabrication preferred.
