If you have solid skills understanding how to read shop drawings, and want to spend more time laying out and fitting custom assemblies rather than just running repetitive production parts in a fixture, this role is for you. We are looking for a hands-on Layout Fabricator to join our team. Working alongside our lead fabricators, you will take cut parts and raw structural shapes (tube, plate, channel, angle), lay out hole patterns and cut lines, square up sub-assemblies, and fit/tack custom weldments according to print specifications. Duties Read structural blueprints and fabrication drawings. Lay out hole centers, cut lines, and angles using squares, dividers, scribes, and center punches. Cut, notch, drill, and prep parts using cold saws, bandsaws, and drill presses. Check diagonals, plumb, and dimensions to ensure parts align to print. Deburr, bevel, and grind joints to ensure clean preparation. Requirements 2 to 4 years of hands-on metal fabrication, fitting, or structural shop experience. Solid shop math skills (adding/subtracting fractions and decimals, calculating diagonals). Confident using layout hand tools (combination square, framing square, protractor, tape measure, calipers). Capable of laying out and fitting basic assemblies without needing constant direct supervision. Strong safety habits and pride in clean, accurate work.
