Job Description
The Structural Fitter will perform structural fitting and repair work on vessels in a shipyard environment. This position requires hands-on experience fitting, repairing, and replacing structural steel. Candidates must be able to read drawings, take accurate measurements, and properly fit structural components for welding. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of structural fitting experience, preferably in a shipyard or marine environment Experience with vessel repair and structural steel work Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings Ability to measure, lay out, cut, fit, and align structural steel Experience using torches, grinders, hand tools, and power tools Must be able to work safely and effectively with welders and other crafts Must be dependable and able to work in a fast-paced shipyard environment Key Responsibilities Perform structural fitting and repairs aboard vessels and in the shipyard Lay out, cut, fit, and align plates, stiffeners, frames, bulkheads, and other structural components Remove damaged steel and fit replacement material as required Tack components in place for final welding Verify measurements, alignment, and fit-up before welding Identify and correct fit-up issues Work closely with welders and supervision to complete repairs efficiently Follow all shipyard safety requirements and maintain a clean work area Shipyard repair experience is strongly preferred. Candidates must have proven structural fitting experience and be able to perform the work with minimal supervision.
Pay:
$24.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 60.0 per week Application Question(s): Have you recently passed a hands-on practical Structural Fitter test?
