Job Description

Fabricator paying $28+ 1st shift: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Optional overtime until 4:30-5:00 p.m. Occasional Saturdays during busy seasons Job Description The Mechanic installs, repairs, and services a wide range of industrial truck bodies and related equipment in a fast-paced job shop environment. This role works on small and medium-sized trucks, performing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and fabrication tasks while collaborating closely with a team. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read and follow work orders, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship. Responsibilities Install and repair industrial truck bodies, liftgates, plows, hydraulics, and accessories Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems Perform fabrication, MIG welding, and metal cutting (torch/plasma) Complete 12‑volt wiring and electrical hookups Install and service hydraulic components (hoses, pumps, cylinders, controls) Read and follow work orders, blueprints, and diagrams Safely use hand and power tools, forklifts, and overhead cranes Test equipment, perform some outdoor work, and ensure safe operation Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety procedures Lift up to 50 lbs and perform standing, bending, and reaching throughout the day Participate in cross‑training and support overall shop operations Essential Skills Proven mechanical aptitude with experience in repair, installation, or a related mechanic/welding background. Hands-on experience with fabrication and MIG welding in an industrial or automotive/truck environment. Working knowledge of hydraulics, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair of hydraulic systems. Understanding of pneumatics and the ability to troubleshoot and repair pneumatic components. Experience with 12-volt electrical systems, including wiring, electrical hook-ups, and basic troubleshooting. Ability to read and understand blueprints, diagrams, and work orders. Ability to interact professionally with customers when needed in a shop and showroom setting. Work Environment Large, busy job shop with multiple buildings (similar to a truck dealership) Team‑based, hands‑on work with mechanics and installers Work on municipal trucks, dump trucks, and semi‑trucks Time‑sensitive repairs to keep customer vehicles in service Some customer interaction in the showroom or shop Occasional outdoor work to test equipment Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Fridley, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
