Job Description

  • Job Title: Structural Welder
  • Job Description
  • The Structural Welder is responsible for field welding and assembly of pre-engineered metal building systems, primarily Butler® buildings.

This role involves performing structural welding, fit-up, and installation of steel components on active construction sites in accordance with engineered drawings, safety standards, and project schedules. The ideal candidate has strong field welding experience, understands PEMB systems, and can work safely at heights and in varying weather conditions.

  • Responsibilities
  • + Conduct structural welding on pre-engineered metal building components, including columns, rafters, girts, purlins, bracing, base plates, and miscellaneous steel.

+ Assemble and erect Butler pre-engineered metal building systems according to engineered drawings, erection plans, and specifications.

+ Execute welds using processes such as SMAW (stick), FCAW, and/or GMAW.

+ Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols.

+ Perform proper fit-up, alignment, and tacking of structural members prior to final welding.

+ Operate and maintain welding equipment, torches, grinders, and other field tools.

+ Conduct visual inspections of welds and assist with quality control and corrective actions as needed.

+ Work collaboratively with ironworkers, crane operators, foremen, and site supervisors.

+ Follow all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety policies, including fall protection and hot work procedures.

+ Assist with material handling, rigging, and steel erection tasks as required.

+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.

  • Essential Skills
  • + 3+ years of structural welding experience, preferably in pre-engineered metal buildings or commercial steel erection.

+ Proficiency in field welding structural steel.

+ Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and welding symbols.

+ Experience working at heights using lifts, scaffolding, and fall protection systems.

+ Strong understanding of jobsite safety practices.

+ Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

+ AWS welding certifications (D1.1 Structural Steel or equivalent).

  • Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • + Prior experience erecting Butler or similar PEMB systems. + OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. + Experience with bolt-up steel erection and rigging. + Forklift, boom lift, or scissor lift operation experience. + Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to regional job sites.

The role offers flexible shifts with opportunities for overtime on certain projects.

  • This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lees Summit, MO.
  • Pay and Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $27.

00 - $31.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
