Duties Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to guide precise metal fabrication and assembly. Perform welding using various techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards. Operate power tools such as plasma cutters, grinders, drills, and pipe threading machines to shape and prepare metal materials. Measure materials accurately using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise cuts and fits. Fabricate sheet metal components and assemble structural elements on construction sites or in fabrication shops, adhering to safety protocols at all times. Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot fabrication issues, interpret technical drawings, and modify designs as needed for optimal results. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety procedures, inspecting tools regularly, and properly handling metal materials. Skills Extensive experience with construction site welding fabrication processes across diverse environments. Proficiency in operating cranes, power tools, plasma cutters, pipe threading machines, and other fabrication equipment. Strong ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints with precision interpretation skills. Knowledge of welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding (GMAW). Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers for accurate fabrication work. Mechanical knowledge related to metal materials, sheet metal fabrication, pipe assembly, and structural assembly. Ability to follow safety protocols diligently while working with heavy machinery and welding equipment. Basic math skills including shop math necessary for measurements and calculations during fabrication tasks.
