This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with skilled professionals in a fast-paced environment, utilizing advanced torch cutting techniques to shape and prepare large metal components. TORCH CUTTER EXPERIENCE NEEDED!
Responsibilities Operate oxy-fuel torches to cut steel plates and large metal sections accurately according to technical specifications and blueprints Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to determine cut lines and dimensions Measure and mark materials using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise cuts Use power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment for preparation and finishing of metal components Follow safety protocols rigorously while handling welding equipment such as FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and gas metal arc welding processes Collaborate with team members on assembly, fabrication, and installation of metal structures in accordance with construction site standards Maintain detailed records of work performed, including measurements, cutting sequences, and inspection reports Requirements Proven experience as a torch cutter or fabricator in a construction or shipyard environment with a focus on large-scale steel projects Strong knowledge of construction site safety protocols and adherence to OSHA standards Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and interpreting mechanical blueprints Skilled in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math for precise measurements Experience with various welding techniques including FCAW, MIG, TIG, SMAW, gas metal arc welding, and welding standards Ability to operate power tools, plasma cutters, machining equipment, and hand tools efficiently Mechanical knowledge related to metal fabrication processes including sheet metal fabrication and assembly Familiarity with construction site operations such as crane use, fabrication shop experience, and construction experience is highly desirable Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately and follow complex instructions This role is paid employment—your skills will be valued every step of the way as you contribute to building durable maritime structures.
