Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Welding Shop Hand/Helper to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will assist skilled welders and fabricators in preparing materials, maintaining shop safety, and supporting various welding and metal fabrication projects. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop hands-on skills in welding, metalworking, and shop operations within a fast-paced environment. Your proactive attitude and mechanical aptitude will contribute significantly to our production efficiency and quality standards. Duties Assist with the setup and breakdown of welding equipment, including power tools, plasma cutters, and hand tools Prepare metal materials such as sheet metal and structural components for fabrication by measuring, cutting, and cleaning as directed Support welders by holding workpieces, positioning materials, and ensuring proper alignment according to technical drawings and blueprints Maintain a clean and organized shop environment by sweeping, disposing of scrap metal, and storing tools properly Follow safety protocols diligently during all operations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and team members Operate measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions accurately Assist in interpreting technical drawings and blueprints to support fabrication tasks involving metal materials Requirements Prior construction site experience or metal fabrication shop experience preferred Basic understanding of welding techniques including FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) (Not Required) Familiarity with power tools, hand tools, plasma cutting equipment, and machining processes Ability to read mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately Knowledge of shop math, measurements, and basic math skills necessary for precise fabrication work Mechanical knowledge related to assembly, fabrication, and interpretation of technical specifications Commitment to safety protocol adherence in all aspects of work Strong teamwork ethic with excellent communication skills Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks Join us if you're eager to grow your skills in a vibrant environment where safety, craftsmanship, and teamwork are at the forefront.
