Shop Fabricator / Welder UPP | $26-$34 per hour, based on experience UPP is hiring a skilled Shop Fabricator to build metal components and assemblies for our industrial projects. We're looking for someone who can read a blueprint, accurately lay out materials, weld, and turn raw material into a quality finished product. You'll work with our shop team to fabricate pipe assemblies, ductwork, sheet metal components, and structural pieces. The right person takes pride in their craftsmanship, works well with others, and keeps safety, accuracy, and project deadlines in mind. What You'll Do Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and fabrication drawings to understand dimensions, materials, and assembly requirements. Measure, mark, cut, form, fit, and assemble materials according to project specifications. Perform MIG and TIG welding, checking fit-up and weld quality throughout the fabrication process. Operate shop equipment, including plasma cutters, press brakes, machining equipment, power tools, and hand tools. Fabricate pipe assemblies, ductwork, sheet metal components, and structural elements. Perform pipe threading, soldering, and assembly work as required. Use tape measures, squares, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and finished work. Safely move and load materials using appropriate rigging techniques and forklifts when trained and authorized. Communicate material needs, drawing questions, equipment issues, and job progress to shop leadership. Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and ready for use. What We're Looking For Proven hands-on experience in metal fabrication, welding, or a manufacturing shop. Experience with MIG and TIG welding, fitting, and assembly. Ability to read blueprints and accurately follow dimensions and fabrication instructions. Experience using plasma cutters, press brakes, and other common fabrication tools and equipment. Strong measuring skills, basic shop math, and attention to detail. Familiarity with pipe fabrication, sheet metal work, and ductwork. Understanding of safe material handling, rigging, and shop practices. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and contribute to the team. Dependability, clear communication, and pride in producing accurate, consistent work. Familiarity with ASME codes and standards related to welding and fabrication is a plus.
