Job Description
Landscape Architect / Landscape Designer Los Angeles, CA | On‑Site About the Role This is an opportunity to join a design‑driven, multidisciplinary architecture and planning firm with a long-standing presence in Los Angeles and a national portfolio of thoughtful, context‑responsive work. The studio is known for collaborative design culture, technical rigor, and projects that balance creativity with real‑world execution. Within the landscape team, this role offers meaningful exposure across the full project lifecycle. You'll contribute to early concepts, develop designs through construction documentation, and collaborate closely with architects, planners, and engineers. It's an ideal position for someone beyond entry level who wants growth, mentorship, and increasing responsibility—without being left to figure everything out alone. What You'll Do Develop conceptual landscape designs, diagrams, and visual studies Produce construction documents (plans, details, redlines) in AutoCAD Stay involved across multiple project phases, from concept through CDs Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, and other consultants Participate in client communication as experience allows Contribute to design narratives, proposals, and presentations Collaborate closely with a small, design‑focused landscape team The Work Projects span a wide range of scales and environments, including: Public and civic spaces (streetscapes, transit‑adjacent projects, infrastructure) Institutional and educational campuses Select private and design‑intensive work You'll move between large, complex sites and smaller, detail‑driven projects—adaptability and curiosity are important. What We're Looking For This role is best suited for someone who: Has 3-7 years of professional experience in landscape architecture or landscape design Is design‑strong and also comfortable producing construction documentation Can take ownership of tasks, ask questions, and keep work moving forward Wants to grow into greater responsibility over time Values collaboration, clarity, and follow‑through Required Skills AutoCAD with real construction documentation experience Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) Strong landscape design fundamentals Experience contributing to CDs and technical detailing A portfolio clearly showing your personal contributions and built or detailed work A portfolio is required for consideration. Resumes without portfolios will not advance. Nice‑to‑Have Rhino, Lumion, SketchUp, or other visualization tools Experience with high‑end residential, hospitality, civic, or urban projects Consultant coordination experience Strong writing or narrative skills for proposals Revit exposure (used on select projects but not required ) What Success Looks Like Strong performers: Communicate proactively and take initiative Balance creativity with technical follow‑through Stay engaged from concept through documentation Show interest in growth and increasing ownership This is not a planning‑only role, a graphics‑only role, or a drafting support position. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $48.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
