- Supervise and coordinate staff and design consultants in the planning, preparation and submission of contract documents, which include: drawings, specifications, permitting forms and estimates for single and multi-trade projects; coordinate workloads of staff; perform employee and consultant evaluations; develop and review reports; prepare work orders for design consultants; coordinate and attend meetings; resolve conflicts as they arise.
- Provide in-house design when required.
- Ensure that the contract documents are code compliant, comply with regulatory requirements, and conform to the OGS Design Standards and Procedures.
- Support construction projects and coordinate with field staff; attend construction phase meetings; review submittals.
- Respond to IB's and RFI's.
- Coordinate with and support client agencies.
- Be a subject matter expert on site related design and construction matters, materials, equipment and installation methods.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Perform the full range of supervisory duties.
Preferred Quals:
- Knowledge and use of AutoCad and Bluebeam preferred.
Operational Needs:
- Registered NYS Landscape Architect
- Travel may be required (approximately 20%).
- Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver's License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.

Salary Adjustments for Positions in Albany
Geographic pay differential added to hiring salary = $7,000.
- There is no examination required for appointment to a
NY HELPS
position. Candidates hired via
NY HELPS
will be appointed on a permanent non-competitive basis and will begin a probationary period. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected that
NY HELPS
employees will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to take an exam. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a
NY HELPS
title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified. The Office of the General Services (OGS) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency's mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OGS Design and Construction (D&C) will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employee's duties and work performance are aligned with telecommuting they may be allowed to do so. Upon approval to telecommute, OGS D&C employees may telecommute up to 4 days per pay period. Minimum QualificationsThis title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS)
- and applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for this position: New York State Registration and License as a Professional Landscape Architect and two years of experience planning and designing landscape development and site improvement projects, and overseeing the construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of outdoor spaces and other open areas for transportation facilities, buildings, parks, historic sites, recreational facilities, campuses, gardens, playgrounds, and roads and highways.
OR Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Landscape Architect 1 and eligible for transfer under the Civil Service Law.
