Job Description
Landscape Architect Position Overview A multidisciplinary planning and design firm is seeking a Landscape Architect with 3+ years of professional experience to support a diverse range of site planning, landscape design, and development projects. This role involves meaningful participation in all phases of project delivery, from early site analysis and concept design through permitting, client presentations, and construction administration. The ideal candidate is design‑oriented, technically proficient, and comfortable collaborating with clients, consultants, and regulatory agencies within a fast‑paced, team‑driven environment. Key Responsibilities Site Analysis & Master Planning Conduct site inventory and analysis in both field and office environments, evaluating existing conditions, environmental constraints, and regulatory requirements Support feasibility studies, conceptual site plans, and master planning efforts for a variety of project types Translate project goals, site constraints, and regulatory requirements into thoughtful, buildable design solutions Landscape Architecture & Site Design Prepare site design and landscape architecture plans including site layouts, grading concepts, planting plans, site lighting, pedestrian circulation, and open space design Contribute to the development of design concepts across multiple stages, from concept through construction documentation Coordinate landscape design elements with civil engineering, architecture, and planning components Visualization & Graphic Production Produce visual analyses, photographic simulations, renderings, and 3D models to communicate design intent Prepare high‑quality graphics, maps, exhibits, and presentation materials for clients and public meetings Project Coordination & Task Management Manage assigned project tasks and activities to ensure deadlines, budgets, and deliverables are met Coordinate with internal staff and external consultants including architects, civil engineers, planners, surveyors, and environmental professionals Participate in project meetings and design reviews to support overall project execution Permitting & Agency Coordination Assist with and coordinate applications to municipal boards and regulatory agencies for project approvals and permits Support entitlement processes including site plan approvals, special permits, and master plan submissions Attend planning board, zoning board, and public hearings as needed Client Interaction & Presentations Present design ideas and technical information clearly to clients, stakeholders, and review boards Engage directly with clients and consultants to develop and refine design solutions Construction Administration Support construction administration services including site observations and field coordination Assist with responding to contractor questions, reviewing submittals, and addressing field conditions Required Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program 3+ years of professional landscape architecture experience in a consulting or design firm environment Technical Skills Proficiency in AutoCAD for landscape and site design documentation Experience with visualization tools such as SketchUp, Lumion, Enscape, Rhino, or similar 3D modeling/rendering software Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) for graphic production Additional Skills & Competencies Strong understanding of site planning, grading, and landscape construction techniques Working knowledge of local and regional zoning, planning, and permitting processes Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational and time‑management abilities Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment What This Role Offers Diverse project exposure across planning, development, and landscape architecture Increased design responsibility and project ownership Collaborative, design‑focused environment with experienced professionals Long‑term career growth opportunities within an established firm Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of White Plains, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
