Salary:
20.00 - 25.00 USD / HOUR Share Share Email Post Share ITG Larson, based in White Plains, NY, is a technology consulting firm specializing in information technology, telecommunications, and security systems for a variety of industries. They offer services such as system design, integration, project management, and technology consulting to optimize client infrastructure. Known for their expertise in areas like structured cabling, audio-visual systems, and network solutions, ITG Larson tailors its services to meet the specific needs of businesses and organizations. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Junior IT Field Technician to join our team in White Plains, NY. As part of ITG Larson and the larger DU Family of Companies, we believe that by investing and empowering our employees as leaders, we will develop an organization that delivers innovative solutions and services that create superior customer experience. The unique blend of our leader's abilities and the ownership of their work, combined with our culture and values, creates something that is simply described as the Davis-Ulmer difference.
Position Overview:
This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a recent graduate or candidate with foundational IT education who wants hands-on experience supporting real-world security and technology systems. In this role, you will work alongside our experienced engineering team, providing on-site technical support to our clients. You will assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of integrated security systems — including IP cameras, access control systems, intercoms, network switches, and related infrastructure. Each day will bring new challenges and opportunities to grow your skills as you travel to client locations, engage with cutting-edge technology, and contribute to systems that genuinely protect people and property. This position is ideal for someone just out of school or higher education in an IT-related field who is ready to apply their knowledge in a fast-paced, client-facing environment — and who wants a career path, not just a job.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform scheduled on-site visits to commercial client facilities to conduct system health checks on IP cameras, access control systems, intercoms, and related security and network equipment. Execute and verify site backups for security system servers, databases, and configurations; document results and escalate any failures or anomalies to the senior team. Perform system audits — verifying that devices are online, properly configured, and operating within expected parameters; identify discrepancies and report findings. Maintain and update client system inventory records, including IP addresses, MAC addresses, device models, firmware versions, login credentials, and network diagrams. Apply firmware and software updates to security system components, servers, and network devices as directed, following change management procedures. Provide on-site troubleshooting support for client-reported issues with IP cameras, access control, intercoms, and PoE network devices under the guidance of a senior technician or engineer. Assist with network tasks including IP address verification, switch port checks, and confirming PoE device connectivity. Document all services performed accurately in the service management system; maintain clear records of client interactions, work completed, and any open items requiring follow-up. Communicate professionally and courteously with clients on-site; represent ITG Larson as a trusted partner in every interaction. Collaborate with the internal team to surface recurring issues, contribute to process improvements, and support a high standard of client service. Respond to support requests during and, when necessary, outside of regular business hours.
Requirements:
Associate's degree, vocational certificate, or equivalent coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field — or demonstrated equivalent hands-on experience. Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals and an understanding of PoE (Power over Ethernet) devices. Solid understanding of Windows OS; basic familiarity with Linux is a plus. Foundational knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking concepts, and basic troubleshooting techniques. Strong attention to detail — accuracy in record-keeping, inventory documentation, and system data is essential in this role. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a professional and friendly demeanor when working with commercial clients on-site. Ability to follow direction, manage assigned tasks independently, and stay organized across multiple client sites and open items. Valid driver's license with a good driving record; willingness to travel regularly to client locations throughout the region. Willingness to be on-call for emergency or after-hours support as needed. Nice-to-Have /
Bonus Qualifications:
Any exposure to or coursework in Microsoft SQL Server or other database platforms. Basic familiarity with virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar). Low-voltage electronics experience or coursework. Awareness of or exposure to IP-based security systems (IP cameras, access control, intercoms) — formal training or coursework counts. Entry-level IT certifications or active pursuit of: CompTIA A+, Network+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft certifications. Prior internship, co-op, or part-time experience in an IT or technology field, even informally. As part of the Davis-Ulmer Family of Companies, we believe that investing and empowering our employees as leaders develops an organization that delivers innovative solutions and services that create a superior customer experience.
