Job Description
Martin Marietta is currently looking for a Powder Technician at our underground mine operations at our Ames Mine. Essential Functions Participate in safety programs and trainings, promoting Martin Marietta's Guardian Angel culture Abide by all safety rules, regulations and procedures of the mine Ability to safety lift, carry and handle explosive materials Compile explosives records in compliance with local and federal laws. Ability to learn and operate equipment ensuring safe equipment operation Maintain inventory levels, ordering new supplies as necessary Lay out designs for drill and blast patterns. Ability to work at heights while functioning in an elevated work position Set up and operate equipment to bore holes. Other duties as assigned Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position and will require 40+ hours per week. Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent Heavy equipment operations or military experience preferred A valid US Driver's License Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to work with minimal supervision Knowledge of MSHA regulations Effective verbal communication Knowledge of heavy mobile equipment and tools including their design, use, and maintenance Physical Abilities Ability to work in an outdoor environment year-round General physical activities including climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, reach with hands and arms, and handling materials
