This role ensures safe and efficient delivery of natural gas to residential, commercial, and industrial customers while complying with federal, state, and company regulations. Technicians also respond to customer complaints regarding service issues, investigate and resolve gas-related concerns, and assess infrastructure damage caused by external factors such as excavation, weather events, or accidents. Prompt and professional handling of these situations is essential to maintaining public safety and customer satisfaction. The Gas Service Technician position ranges from Trainee to Operations Technician. Placement is based on skill level, which is assessed by an indoor and outdoor interview. If selected, the hiring manager will determine placement within CoServ's Gas Service Employee Development Program.

Prosper, TX Responsibilities Primary Position Responsibilities Respond to service calls, including gas leaks, outages, and emergency situations. Install, test, and maintain gas meters, regulators, and service lines. Conduct pressure tests and leak surveys using approved detection equipment. Disconnect and reconnect gas service as required. Enter customer homes and businesses to resolve service issues and restore gas service safely and professionally. Communicate efficiently with customers, supervisors, and other departments. Participate in an on-call rotation, responding after hours to damages and customer complaints. Complies with established CoServ safety and operating rules, procedures, and guidelines, including reporting unsafe practices to a supervisor. Complies with established CoServ Information Security Handbook, policies, procedures, and guidelines, including reporting suspected information security incidents to Tech Support. Secondary Position Responsibilities Receives training as directed by the Service Supervisor. Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings. Attends CPR/First Aid Training and other training as required. Maintains company provided tools and equipment in proper working condition. Install and remove meter/regulators for proper placement for installation. Loads meter/regulators and other materials onto trucks at the warehouse. Performs some digging when installing and repairing underground gas lines. Attends CoServ University required training. Performs other duties and activities as directed. Position Requirements Education, Experience, and Certifications Required High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency. Certified in CPR and First Aid. Certified in those functions as required by the Operator Qualification Plan. Must satisfactorily complete all regulatory and company requirements/qualifications for the applicable classification prior to performing a covered task independently Education, Experience, and Certifications Preferred None Skills and Abilities Required Understands Company maps and Procedures Manual, work orders, staking sheets, NFPA safety codes, OSHA safety codes, and any type of Company forms related to work being performed. Knowledge of Company's service area and distribution system, system construction, and troubleshooting techniques and is completely familiar with his assigned work area. Understands Company's tariff policies, rules, regulations, and procedures. Has basic skills in the operations and functions of computers, including but not limited to Windows applications, Outlook, Excel, Word, and internet applications. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to effectively interact with customers, peers, and various levels of management. Ability to work independently (at this level Technicians work alone majority of the time - help is available for jobs that require assistance). Physical Requirements Performs call out duties. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. Drives company vehicle. Operates office equipment such as a computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc. Works outdoors 95% of the time in all types of weather conditions and environmental conditions Works in potentially hazardous conditions caused by escaping gas in or near the work site. Works in areas with possible exposure to poison oak, poison ivy, and insect stings. Works in no or low light conditions - using handheld lantern or spotlights. Other Requirements Resides within reasonable response time distance (20 minutes) to assigned office location. Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.
