Job Description

The Workover Rig & Consultant Lead is responsible for leading and overseeing all workover rig operations and field consultants across assigned assets. This role provides operational leadership, technical guidance, safety oversight, and quality assurance to ensure workover activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards. The successful candidate will work closely with Workover Foremen, Production Operations, Engineering, Well Analysts, contractors, and service providers to maximize rig efficiency, minimize downtime, control costs, and safely return wells to production.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Primary Responsibilities- Lead and oversee daily workover rig operations across assigned areas.
- Supervise and mentor field consultants while establishing clear expectations for safety, reporting, and operational performance.
- Coordinate with engineers, foremen, production personnel, and service companies to plan and execute well intervention activities.
- Review and approve daily rig reports, ensuring accurate and complete WellView documentation.
- Monitor rig performance, downtime, job progress, and operating costs while identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Support and oversee recompletions, acid stimulation, coil tubing, wireline, fishing, swabbing, cleanouts, and other well intervention operations.
- Ensure equipment, materials, contractors, and services are available prior to job execution.
- Verify proper well handoff before and after workover operations and assist with production startup activities
- Track operational failures, identify lessons learned, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain strong communication with field operations, engineering, contractors, and leadership. Safety Leadership Safety is a core responsibility of this position. The Workover Rig & Consultant Lead is expected to:
- Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
- Lead Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), pre-job meetings, and post-job reviews.
- Verify contractor compliance with safety requirements and well control procedures.
- Ensure proper PPE, H₂S precautions, pressure control, and LOTO procedures are followed.
- Stop work when unsafe conditions exist.
- Report and investigate incidents, near misses, spills, and unsafe conditions.
- Foster a strong safety culture across all contractors and field personnel.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience supervising workover rig operations
- Extensive experience with:
- Workover rig supervision
- Recompletion operations
- Acid stimulation jobs
- Coil tubing operations
- Wireline operations
- Fishing operations
- Swabbing operations
- Well cleanouts
- Well completions and post-rig start-up support
- Contractor and consultant oversight
- Job planning and execution
- Daily rig reporting and cost tracking
- Troubleshooting downhole and surface-related issues WellView Experience
- 10+ years of WellView experience.
- Advanced knowledge of WellView reporting and auditing.
- Ability to review, correct, and standardize daily reports.
- Experience training consultants on WellView best practices.
- Strong understanding of how WellView supports engineering, operations, cost tracking, and failure analysis.

- SafeLand/PEC (or equivalent)
- OSHA 10
- H₂S Certification
- First Aid & CPR
- Well Control Certification
- Valid Driver's License Additional industry certifications are considered a plus.
