Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Equipment Operator to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating heavy machinery such as backhoes, directional drills, excavators, dozers, graders, loaders, and water trucks to facilitate various construction projects. Your expertise will ensure that excavation, trenching, paving, and utility installation tasks are completed efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, a keen eye for safety regulations, and hands-on experience with construction machinery in diverse environments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects while maintaining a focus on safety and precision. Duties Operate heavy construction equipment including backhoes, excavators (Caterpillar preferred), dozers, graders, loaders, water trucks, dump trucks, horizontal drills, and tanker trucks to execute project tasks effectively. Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance. Perform utility locating to accurately identify underground utilities before excavation or drilling activities commence. Follow federal construction safety regulations and site-specific safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all team members. Assist with construction site setup, including grading, paving preparation, and equipment positioning. Operate directional drills for horizontal drilling projects with precision and adherence to project specifications. Support other construction activities such as paving, water line installation, or site grading as needed. Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, maintenance logs, and safety inspections. Collaborate closely with team members to coordinate operations and ensure project deadlines are met efficiently. Qualifications Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery such as backhoes, excavators (preferably Caterpillar), dozers, graders, loaders, and water trucks in construction environments. Valid commercial driver's license with experience in commercial truck driving and hauling equipment or materials. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic maintenance on machinery. Familiarity with federal construction safety regulations and OSHA standards. Experience with utility locating techniques and underground utility identification. Construction site experience with knowledge of horizontal drilling and paving operations is highly desirable. Ability to operate specialized equipment including horizontal drills, loaders, graders, dozers, and tankers safely and efficiently. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks in outdoor conditions for extended periods.
