Job Description

Job Summary:
The Heavy Equipment Operator operates a variety of heavy equipment vehicles to push and load recyclable materials. Additionally, conducts operator inspections; performing preventive maintenance checks; studying and clarifying instructions and diagrams; calculating requirements; gathering materials and supplies; operating equipment; observing varying conditions; adjusting equipment controls. Must have 2 years experience operating heavy equipment; loader and grapple
Essential Responsibilities:
Operating material handlers and loaders of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, materials, and supplies Accomplishes work by operating equipment; observing varying conditions; adjusting equipment controls. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy equipment operation environment by adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns. Plans Performing routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment; cleaning equipment, greasing equipment and referring defects or repairs to supervisor and maintenance department Improves equipment operation job knowledge by attending training sessions; reading technical publications. Contributes to equipment operation and organization success by welcoming related, different, and new requests; helping others accomplish job results. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Two (2) years experience involving the use of medium and heavy equipment Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations Working knowledge of the methods, materials, and tools used in the metal recycling industry Skill in operation of above listed tools and equipment Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally Ability to observe proper safety precautions Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and customers Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions Ability to drive and operate a variety of equipment under varying conditions Ability to understand industry material and proper handling All Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
