Job Description

About this role Join a heavy civil crew in Fayetteville, GA as a Heavy Equipment Operator. You'll run excavators, dozers, backhoes, skid steers, motor graders and vibratory compactors to move and grade earth, support paving operations, and help set up hard-surface work. This is hands-on field work on active construction sites. Expect full days outdoors, strict adherence to site safety and drug-free policies, routine equipment inspections and light maintenance. Reliable attendance and the ability to work with a crew are required. What you'll do Operate excavators, dozers, backhoes, skid steers, motor graders and vibratory compactors for earthmoving, grading and paving tasks Perform site grading, slope shaping, trenching, backfilling and finish-grade work to plans and grade stakes Assist with equipment setup, routine inspections and basic repairs to keep machines safe and operational Follow site safety plans, use required PPE, attend toolbox talks and enforce safe practices on site Coordinate with foremen, grade checkers and laborers to maintain workflow and meet schedule targets Keep accurate equipment logs, report damage or hazards, and maintain a clean, organized work area What we're looking for Proven experience operating excavator, dozer, backhoe, skid steer and grader on construction sites Practical knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance and pre-start inspections Experience with earthmoving, finish grading and paving support in civil construction Ability to follow grade stakes, read basic site plans and take direction from foremen Strong safety mindset and willingness to work in a drug-free environment Reliable transportation to Fayetteville job sites and consistent on-time attendance Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred Valid driver's license and reliable transportation OSHA 10-hour construction card or equivalent preferred Equipment operator certification(s) or documented machine hours preferred Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check Basic English proficiency for safety briefings and crew communication What we offer Company-provided PPE and tools needed for the job Site-specific training and opportunities to cross-train on multiple machines Paid time off and holiday policies (details provided during hiring) Health, dental and vision options available (details during onboarding) 401(k) retirement savings plan with employer match (details during onboarding) Stable, long-term crew assignments and clear paths for advancement Ready to apply?
